The Community Support Platform (CSP) at Airbnb is an essential system that powers the company's customer support operations. It is designed to empower Airbnb's global network of Community Support ambassadors and facilitate efficient handling of customer inquiries, issues, and escalations.
The CSP serves as a centralized hub for managing customer support interactions, providing tools, workflows, and data-driven insights to enhance customer support effectiveness. It enables ambassadors to deliver high-quality and personalized support experiences to Airbnb guests and hosts around the world.

The difference you will make:
As a Senior software Engineer in the Community Support Org you’ll need to be passionate about our community i.e Guests and Hosts. You will lead through influence and collaboration to transform concepts into reality. We require your expertise in developing global platforms for role-based access control to ensure the security and privacy of our community data. Your role will involve conceptualizing, promoting, and implementing a scalable system for contextual permission control that meets the needs of our stakeholders. You’re expected to be comfortable with ambiguity, and help the team enjoy working backwards from highly ambiguous starting points by leveraging data, running experiments, and following a structured approach to build business use cases that influence a diverse team of engineers, data scientists, finance, compliance, legal, and business experts. You should be able to guide and navigate the team through technical and regulatory constraints while simultaneously distilling and communicating complex subject matter to our stakeholders. You will have to be passionate about guiding a high performing team and creating a unique culture. You will be expected to lead the team to work with engineers in the US to tackle these complex challenges.

A Typical Day:
- Work closely with your stakeholders in the US for alignment and shape strategies and technical directions.
- A typical day starts with a daily-standup, where you get an accurate view of the team’s output, their technical blockers so that you can provide the right support engineers to move forward in their tasks without any friction, Code reviews.
- Embedding Engineering best practices and being the goto person for all the engineers to technically guidance.
- Provide hands-on expertise in architecting and developing software systems, guiding and mentoring engineering teams to ensure best practices are followed.
- Our primary focus is on upholding a strong commitment to craft. This commitment serves as a guiding principle to drive excellence and innovation in technology across all teams. As a member of the CSP TL community, you will play an integral role in participating in and contributing to the discussions and forums within the Senior TL community.
- Finding ways to improve collaboration and communication within the team and within org for a strong team culture.
- Since most of our initiatives/projects are going to be driven by Data protection, you will have to understand Product, Partnership and other XFn orgs to get the project prioritized on their roadmap also if needed.
- If required there could be seldom international travel.
- Last, but not least, you’re likely to be the one responsible for recruiting the right engineers by taking interviews and adding new initiatives to drive innovation and tech excellence for the overall India site culture.
Your expertise:
- BS, MS or Ph.D. in computer science or related field, or equivalent work experience.
- 8+ years of relevant engineering work experience
- Experience with building Agent platform solutions.
- Strong coding abilities and experience with architectural patterns of large, high-scale applications.
- Experience architecting, building, and maintaining highly available services in a large service-oriented architecture (SOA).
- Familiarity with patterns, libraries and frameworks for building and testing services, and service-to-service communication.
- Experience in partnering with other leaders in setting product strategy
- Successfully partnered with Product, Data Science, Finance, Legal, and/or Compliance functions
- Track record in partnering with recruiting to build incredible engineering teams
- Actively coached and mentored team members in their careers
- Consistently made culture choices that positively impact all of engineering
