The Android Platform team’s mission is to provide best-in-class experience for Android development at Airbnb to empower engineers to deliver innovative solutions with high velocity and quality at scale. We’re ambitious in our vision and our work spans a large surface area from frameworks & toolings to build systems, C, TestingI, and IDE integrations. Some of our latest work are Trio, an Android framework for Jetpack Compose screen architecture and Focus Mode, an Android Studio plugin to supercharge IDE & Sync performance, among many more.

The Difference You Will Make:

Over the last few years, we’ve built a few IDE integrations that simplify the development lifecycle by providing the tooling our developers need at the moments they need them. We are expanding our efforts in this space by upleveling our current plugins UX and re-imagining how to apply LLMs to improve our developers’ productivity. The solutions we build in this space are not only used by Android Studio users, but also by the larger community of Airbnb developers using IntelliJ IDEA.

We’re looking for a person with a good eye on details and a passion for building great user experiences to help us customize our IDEs through innovative solutions to accelerate the developers productivity.

A Typical Day: 

  • Research best UX patterns, especially in the IDE space.
  • Revamp UX for our existing plugins.
  • Build UX for new plugins, including LLMs applications.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams.

Your Expertise:

  • 5+ years of industry experience building Android apps using Kotlin.
  • 2+ years of experience building apps using Jetpack Compose.
  • Passion for building interactive and delightful user experiences.
  • [Nice to have] Experience working in large scale codebases.
  • [Nice to have] Experience building Android Studio / IntelliJ IDEA plugins.
  • [Nice to have] Experience using Compose for desktop.

Your Location:

This position is US - Remote Eligible. The role may include occasional work at an Airbnb office or attendance at offsites, as agreed to with your manager. How We'll Take Care of You:

Our job titles may span more than one career level. The actual base pay is dependent upon many factors, such as: training, transferable skills, work experience, business needs and market demands. The base pay range is subject to change and may be modified in the future. This role may also be eligible for bonus, equity, benefits, and Employee Travel Credits.  

Pay Range$185,000—$223,000 USD
