Your Role and Your Team:

The role of the Senior Engineering Software Development Engineer is to build tools and develop methods to aid other teams in the Engineering organization. Robust and efficient tooling allow for easier insight into the aircraft development state and shorter improvement cycles. We are looking for a generalist engineer with solid software development experience, that adapts quickly to ever changing challenges. The Engineering Tools team utilizes their diverse skills in engineering and software development to identify and fix workflow inefficiencies, provide easy to use abstractions for central infrastructure, e.g. the HPC environment, the Test data management system, a Simulation model exchange mechanism etc., and augment missing skills in tool development and analytics in the wider engineering community.

Your Day to Day:

  • Develop tools to allow engineers to efficiently analyze the current state of design. As we are a small team we constantly look out for topics that have the best effort to rewards ratio.
  • Integrate tools into existing engineering workflows to make the engineers work more seamlessly.
  • Understand the engineers needs and assist in the development of bespoke tool architectures.
  • Build Frontends for existing offline engineering tools to make them easily accessible for a wider user base.
  • Find a good balance between development speed and quality. As any efficiency gains in tool development scale across a large user base, try to ship early to make the most of those gains.
  • Automate validation / verification of the current state of design.

 Your profile:

  • Engineering or Computer Science master or similar.
  • At least 5 year experience in differing engineering roles, ideally with Software Development aspects.
  • Solid knowledge of one or more high level languages (Python, C, C#, etc.) a must

  • Experience with web application frameworks (e.g. Angular, React, etc.) beneficial.
  • Experience with Bash scripting and Linux administration beneficial.
  • Strong analytical thinking ability is a must.
  • High level of self-reliance, ability to work in a team and an autonomous target-oriented work style is essential.
  • Strong motivation to help engineer achieve their targets by developing and improving analysis tools in a fast-moving environment.
  • Fluent English language skills are essential, fluent German or any other language would be beneficial.
