About the Team 

The Databricks SQL Experience team at Databricks focuses on creating an incredible data analytics, discovery and governance experience on top of the Databricks platform. They develop highly scalable, available, and fault-tolerant SaaS services that manage high production traffic and leverage AI technology to manage complex workflows for large enterprise customers.

Outcomes 

As the senior technical lead, you will help the team achieve the mission by driving the technical direction of highly scalable and performant data and AI systems, working across partner teams to create technical clarity and alignment, and collaborating with senior leadership to build the product strategy and roadmap.

You will report to the Director of Engineering.

What You’ll Do

  • Solve real business needs at large scale by applying your deep technical knowledge and analytical skills.
  • Build architecture design, influence product roadmap, and take ownership and responsibility over new projects.
  • Low-level systems debugging, performance measurement & optimization on large production clusters.
  • Introduce tools to allow greater automation and operability of services.
  • Use your deep experience to help prevent and investigate production issues.
  • Plan and lead complicated technical projects that work with several teams within the company.
  • Contribute as a Technical Team Lead by mentoring others, lead sprint planning, delegating work and assignments to team members and participate in project planning.

Requirements 

Describe what this executive needs to have proven experience in to accomplish in this role.  

  • BS/MS/PhD in Computer Science or related majors, or equivalent experience.
  • 10+ years of hands-on experience developing highly scalable distributed systems
  • 5+ years of technical leadership experience building complex production systems
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a demonstrable bias toward action.

Ability to effectively collaborate and communicate with technical peers and cross-functional partners.

  • Experience with distributed systems, databases, and big data systems (Apache Spark, Hadoop).
  • Comfortable working towards a multi-year vision with incremental deliverables.

Pay Range Transparency

Databricks is committed to fair and equitable compensation practices. The pay range(s) for this role is listed below and represents base salary range for non-commissionable roles or on-target earnings for commissionable roles.  Actual compensation packages are based on several factors that are unique to each candidate, including but not limited to job-related skills, depth of experience, relevant certifications and training, and specific work location. Based on the factors above, Databricks utilizes the full width of the range. The total compensation package for this position may also include eligibility for annual performance bonus, equity, and the benefits listed above. Local Pay Range$220,400—$297,400 USD
