Senior Technical Analyst, Operations Analytics
Must be onsite in Boston, MA (Monday-Thursday)
We are looking for advanced analytical, action-oriented, and collaborative individuals who can translate business problems into data-driven solutions and actionable insights to influence operational results. Successful individuals in this role excel at both qualitative and quantitative analysis while also being eager to communicate upward and outward to tell a concise story.
You will join the Operations Analytics team focused on steering Wayfair’s long-term strategic operations outlook. The Operations Analytics team supports long-term, high-scope, high-complexity strategic planning and business case questions within the operations organization. We work closely across Operations Research, Network Management, Transportation & Delivery and other operations teams to ensure continuity between their near and medium-term planning objective functions with our future state strategic outlooks.
What You’ll Do:
- Work within a small but high-impact team focused on providing analytical firepower to several groups under the operations umbrella, with a focus on Fulfillment, Planning, and Analytics.
- Support the strategic outlook and review pipeline for our global fulfillment and home delivery network, steering decisions to grow, reshape, and optimize our network footprint and within the 4 walls operations.
- Run the end-to-end analytics to recommendation pipeline, designing and building models that glean data insights, packaging insights into concise and actionable recommendations, and selling the data story to our cross functional and senior stakeholders.
- Utilize your experience in SQL, python, and spreadsheet modelling to build tailored and robust sensitivity analyses that unlock core business insights. Develop tools and dashboards that provide critical insights, enabling data-driven decision-making.
- Support work across teams ranging from Network Management, Operations Research, Transportation and Delivery, Real Estate, Customer Service, and more. Contribute to projects that span various operational domains, ensuring alignment with overall business objectives.
- Work in a fast paced, highly iterative environment that is responsive to the evolving needs of our operations functions and strategies.
What You’ll Need:
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Mathematics, Statistics, Computer Science, Engineering, Economics, Operations Research, or a related discipline with a strong academic record.
- Experience in an analytics or data science role, performing quantitative analysis and delivering actionable recommendations from findings.
- Ability to synthesize insights from undefined and open ended problem sets and articulate into clear, top down evidence backed narratives. Present complex information in a concise and understandable manner.
- Advanced proficiency in SQL, including knowledge of aggregate functions, joins, etc.
- Hands-on experience and comfortability with python for data manipulation, analysis, and modeling.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, with experience building comprehensive slide decks and white papers.
- Solution-oriented & curious intellectual mindset and curiosity, with a passion for continuous learning and problem-solving.
- High attention to detail and proven ability to manage multiple, competing priorities simultaneously, ensuring timely and accurate deliverables.
- Strategic thinker, able to provide direction and support to the team in setting clear project goals, managing the execution of projects that align with business objectives.
- Experience with or knowledge of supply chain and logistics concepts is a strong plus.
An Important Note about Wayfair's In-Office Policy: All Boston-based interns, Co-ops, and corporate employees will be in office in a hybrid capacity. Employees will work in the office on designated days, Monday - Thursday, and work remotely Friday.
