Where you’ll work:

Depending on the needs of your business area, we expect hub based people to be in the office at least once a week, and to go to OVO Connection events in-person. 

You’ll be assigned to the closest one of our three hub offices, Bristol, Glasgow, or London; unless your role requires field-based work. Each hub has accessible spaces to park your laptop, is designed to inspire people, help them connect and bring big ideas to life.

You will be working within the OVO Finance Team. The OVO Finance Team’s objectives are:

  • Financial Control; to ensure OVO's resources are directed, monitored and measured in an accurate and timely manner and to maintain a ‘No Surprises Environment’
  • Financial Planning; to allocate future resources beneficially to Ovo and to introduce a clear method to achieve these plans
  • Strategy; to help build and execute an action plan and to drive OVO to its long term objectives.

This role in a nutshell:

This role is within the OVO Commercial Finance team and will report into the Head of FP&A.  

The role will lead and deliver the objectives of the Treasury team, ensuring there is effective control and efficient use of OVO’s cash resources, with explicit focus on visibility and accuracy of OVO cash forecasts.  The Treasury team is responsible for monitoring, transacting  and accounting for approx £5bn of customer receipts and £4bn of supplier payments per year.

Your key outcomes will be:

  • Owning and maintaining an accurate daily cash forecast (through effective company wide collaboration with key stakeholders)
  • Provide daily updates to Senior management on cash position, covenant headroom and key working capital and cash management levers
  • Deliver variance analysis and insight against previous forecasts to explain cash position and also improve forecasting accuracy
  • Defining and optimising the Treasury team structure, strategy and activities
  • Own the long-term cash forecasting/budgeting process and model, with a view of driving continuous improvements to processes and models
  • Own key Treasury relationships (including retail banking, Industry body collateral requirements and Covenant positions)
  • Act as the subject matter expert for projects that require Treasury support including implementation of new product lines across the group
  • Drive the development of a framework of key treasury procedures and controls
  • Managing and mentoring the other members of the Treasury team to ensure that they are delivering on their personal development needs 
  • Overseeing the Treasury Operations to ensure that payments to key suppliers are made on time and integrity between banking and accounting within the ERP system is maintained at all times on an account by account basis
  • Managing payment facilities and regulatory cash balances to maintain liquidity above covenants
  • Any other ad hoc duties as requested by the Head of FP&A.

You’ll be a successful Senior Treasury Manager at OVO if you…

  • Are a qualified accountant (ACA/ACCA/CIMA) or hold a relevant Treasury Qualification
  • Have proven experience of a similar role (5+ years) ideally in the Energy industry
  • Are someone who strives for accuracy, is detail-oriented and takes full ownership of the work you are responsible for
  • Posses excellent communication skills in order to interact with key stakeholders and teams throughout the business and externally
  • Have a proven track-record in excel-based modelling and cash flow forecasting
  • Have exceptional analytical skills with the ability to challenge
  • Are self-motivated and self-starter with a ‘can do’ attitude
  • Demonstrate strong working ethics and can be dynamic and enthusiastic to strive for highest levels of accuracy
  • Show diligence with a preference for attention to detail, and be willing to dig and investigate at depth to resolve problems. You should also be team-oriented with a demonstrated track record in coaching
  • Are keen to learn and take ownership of a challenging role in the team with a thorough approach to work.

We’ll pay you between £80,000 to £95,000, depending on your specific skills and experience.
