Vimeo’s Trust & Safety team is searching for a Sensitive Content Manager to help prevent, mitigate, and remediate harm and abuse across Vimeo. In this role, you will be responsible for leading a team of specialists and leads who review videos and user accounts in order to keep the platform safe from abuse, such as child exploitation or extreme violence. You will work closely with the engineering, product and legal teams to mitigate Terms of Service violations and a variety of other issues dealing with the integrity of the site, and will be involved in a wide array of technical and non-technical projects at any one time. This role also requires creative solutions, especially a deep understanding of abuse trends specific to US cultural norms and sensitivities. You have a genuine passion for moderation (policy enforcement), quality assurance, and online safety.

What you’ll do:

  • Lead sensitive content policy enforcement to ensure compliance processes and procedures are integrated and aligned with business processes
  • Ensure high quality, timely responses to user tickets handled by our globally-distributed team
  • Directly manage and mentor a team of individual contributors, including:
  • Ensuring appropriate level of staffing and training in order to meet Trust & Safety KPIs
  • 1:1s with each direct report, including regular conversations and check ins with on development and growth
  • Assist with and organize social team events
  • Interview and vet new candidates
  • Partner with Legal and Policy to inform policy development and handle sensitive escalations
  • Advocate for our customers and our team in relevant Product, Engineering, and other cross-functional stakeholder meetings, partnering with key cross-functional peers to optimize processes for efficiency and impact, and advocating for a culture of safety by design
  • Help ensure standardization of knowledge across our global team by establishing documentation, processes, and workflows
  • Supervise moderator training and quality assurance, ensuring that policies and processes are being applied effectively, fairly, consistently, and are supported by strong reporting and analytics
  • Mitigate high crisis incidents that pose a risk to the company brand or to our users, and be able to weigh risks and balances between safety and privacy
  • Make final decisions and act as escalation point where needed, including time-sensitive escalations from operations teams, internal stakeholders, and outside groups (Law Enforcement, Government, NGO)

Skills and knowledge you should possess:

  • Proficiency with English (both written and oral)
  • Great instincts for how to represent Vimeo publicly
  • Strong and clear communicator (especially across team lines)
  • Strong ability to prioritize incoming issues in a fast paced environment
  • 4 years of experience in people management 

Analytical ability or experience a plus
