Sensor Development Process Engineer (Avionics)

SENSOR DEVELOPMENT PROCESS ENGINEER (AVIONICS)
Our sensors development team works to design, test, and manufacture high performance sensors for the world's most advanced launch vehicles and spacecraft. The team is responsible for end-to-end development of application specific sensor products to support critical rocket and spacecraft operations, systems, and control loops including propulsion, guidance, navigation, control, and environmental systems. We are seeking a technical individual contributor with experience developing and qualifying semiconductor fabrication processes as well as other special processes for high volume sensor manufacturing.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Develop hands-on technical knowledge of all processes employed in sensor manufacturing to enable rapid new process development for new sensor designs and ensure established processes remain stable.
- Responsible for establishing process monitors and compiling automated statistical process controls.
- Responsible for developing semiconductor processes such as wet and dry etching, vapor deposition, chemical mechanical polishing, etc.
- Responsible for selecting manufacturing equipment and overseeing the installation, operational qualification.
- Responsible for engineering data collection, data analysis, and documentation for new processes.
- Responsible for creating production planning documentation and training personnel.
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelors of Science in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Physics, or related field.
- 1+ years of experience in a manufacturing or semiconductor fabrication.
PREFERRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:
- 3+ years of experience working in sensor manufacturing.
- Experience developing special processes, such as wet and dry etching, thin film depositions, etc.
- Experience designing tooling and building automated manufacturing equipment.
- Experience with material and production planning.
ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:
- Must be willing to support extended hours and weekends when necessary to support launch and critical project timelines
- Must be willing to travel <20%
COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS: Pay range:
Process Engineer/Level I: $95,000.00 - $115,000.00/per year Process Engineer/Level II: $110,000.00 - $130,000.00/per year
Your actual level and base salary will be determined on a case-by-case basis and may vary based on the following considerations: job-related knowledge and skills, education, and experience.
Base salary is just one part of your total rewards package at SpaceX.
