Bankrate is seeking an experienced Director of SEO to help drive organic growth. As a Director of SEO, you’ll lead a team of growth marketing analysts and fully own the development of your business's short and long-term strategy for one of the biggest brands in the financial services landscape.

Being a SEO Director at Bankrate allows you to work alongside an expert Editorial team, advanced Engineers, and a world-class Design team to create a robust SEO strategy to drive brand visibility. As SEO Director, you will have the autonomy to build a strategy and work with internal product teams to develop tooling to support that strategy & learn faster. An SEO Director is an integral part of a successful marketing strategy.

This role is to be based out of our South Charlotte area office with in-office days Mon-Thurs and working remotely on Friday each week.

What You’ll Do:

  • Own the organic performance of one (or more) of Bankrate’s vertical businesses and lead a team of 1-5 growth marketing analysts with varying experience levels.
  • Analyze organic search landscapes to find opportunities that drive valuable traffic and bottom-line value for the business in collaboration with our experience and business teams.
  • Test, innovate, and build custom solutions with our world-class digital marketing, data science, and big data talent.
  • Set and experiment with content promotion strategy with experience and creative teams using a wide array of digital tools and channels
  • Leverage our proprietary primary source marketing stack to report on everything from operational (production) progress to upper funnel demand capture, rank position, and full funnel visibility to conversion and P&L metrics.
  • Keep our sites and pages technically optimized for mobile users and search performance - including information architecture, schema management, semantic HTML, page speed, and other components of crawling and indexing performance.

What We’re Looking For: 

  • A self-starting, proven performer with 5+ years of experience in SEO. 
  • A proven leader and developer of talent with a track record of driving strong performance and growth from your team.
  • Always curious, with strong communication skills, confidence, and the ability to work with a variety of different, and cross-functional, teams.
  • Passionate about innovating in organic search, don’t accept theories at face value, and enjoy testing to prove the effectiveness of tactics.
  • Innovative, on-the-spot, creative problem solver who demonstrates both technical and analytical skills; candidates must be comfortable measuring, interpreting, and making fast-paced decisions based on large volumes of sales and marketing performance data.
  • Very comfortable working in the weeds with data using tools such as Microsoft Excel, SQL, Google Analytics, Looker/Looker Studio, Google Tag Manager, and other common reporting platforms.
  • Basic ability to work with  HTML, CSS, and JS as it relates to SEO.
  • Familiar with several SEO suites and tools including: Ahrefs, SEMRush, SEO Clarity, Botify, Google Search Console, and Screaming Frog.
  • Excited to learn how to utilize several proprietary in-house tools for audience identification and multivariate testing.
  • Comfortable working with business leaders in forecasting, budgeting, sensitivity analysis, and business modeling.
  • A frequent reader of SEO journals and newsletters. Stays close to industry trends. Opinionated about the long-term direction of organic search and can translate it into strategy.
  • Deeply familiar with Google’s quality rater guidelines, Google Search Central blog and SEO starter guides, Web.dev documentation, and the like.
  • Diligent in tracking your competitive landscape. Capable of identifying emerging competitor tactics, changes to the SERP, and themes from algorithm updates and can proactively and quickly adapt strategy.
  • Believe in the intersectionality SEO and a strong user experience.
  • Innovative thinking around using AI to improve team efficiency on monotonous tasks.
  • Interested in full funnel testing and page optimization - bringing in traffic through organic search + on-page multivariate testing to optimize revenue per session.
  • Ability to work within content management systems like Wordpress and ability to collaborate with engineering to improve the CMS.
  • Familiar with the scrum agile framework of software development.

Compensation

  • USA Compensation Range: $130,000 - 210,000* *Note actual salary is based on geographic location, qualifications, and experience. 
  • Enrollment in Red Ventures Long Term Incentive Plan (Equity).
