Site Reliability Engineer II
Our Opportunity:
We are looking for a Site Reliability Engineer II at our facility in Bellevue, Washington, responsible for all operational aspects of Chewy’s e-commerce platform and contributing with needs in site reliability and resiliency, system operations, infrastructure as code, observability, security hardening, and performance engineering.
What You’ll Do:
- Design, build, monitor, and maintain the infrastructure of our internet-facing and internal services.
- Focus on service stability and reliability by working with application owners to set SLOs, "Error Budget" and backup and DR strategies.
- Complete understanding of operational tools and concepts, such as alerting, monitoring, logging and health checks.
- Perform capacity planning and production readiness assessment.
- Embed with product teams during the design and requirements phase of new product development through to initial production launch.
- Identify requirements for other operational teams (such as release engineering, automation, etc.) during application development phase.
- Be a technology and DevOps evangelist for the rest of the company.
- Participate in on-call rotation for level 3 support escalations.
- Telecommuting permitted up to 3 days per week.
What You’ll Need:
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related field and 3 years of experience.
- Will accept a Master’s degree and 1 year of experience.
- Experience must involve the following: building and managing applications in public cloud platforms in either AWS, GCP or Azure;
- Programming experience in one or more of the following programming languages: Python, C, Shell, Java, JavaScript, or React;
- orchestration and system configuration tools, including Ansible, Chef, and Terraform;
- telemetry tooling and observability systems, including Prometheus, Splunk, DataDog and Grafana;
- building and maintaining highly available applications including redundancy, fail over, scalability, monitoring and performance;
- identifying performance bottlenecks, identifying anomalous system behavior, and resolving root cause of service issues;
- CDN, DNS, HAProxy, web services, databases and relating infrastructure/ architecture;
- open source community including troubleshooting and patch submission;
- micro-services architecture, design patterns, and standard methodologies with an eye towards scale, automation, reliability and resiliency;
- CI tools including Bamboo and Jenkins.
- Telecommuting permitted up to 3 days per week.

Compensation & Benefits:
Our salary range for a Site Reliability Engineer II position is $128,502.00 - $183,500.00. The specific salary offered to a candidate may be influenced by a variety of factors including but not limited to the candidate’s relevant experience, education, and work location. In addition, this position is eligible for 401k and a new hire and annual equity grant.

Non-exempt hourly team members accrue paid time off (PTO) while salaried-exempt team members have unlimited PTO, subject to manager approval. Non-exempt hourly team members in Fulfillment Centers and Customer Service are also eligible for additional unplanned unpaid time off (UTO). Team members will receive six paid holidays per year. Team members may be eligible for paid sick and family leave in compliance with applicable state and local regulations.
