Role Description:

As a Site Reliability Engineer, you will work with Agile engineering teams to provide production insight into running and operating software at-scale in a globally distributed highly available cloud based system. You will guide the team to consider scale-out implications and operational support implications of the choices they make during the development cycle to help foster an ownership in production mentality within the team. You will play a hands-on role helping the team meet ambitious technical, operational, schedule, and business requirements. The ideal candidate will be a systems thinker with a passion for creating products that deliver incredible customer experiences and have deep experience with operational automation, data driven metrics collection, and a true desire to automate it rather than do it repeatedly.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Obtain a deep understanding of Cloud9 Technologies infrastructure and applications. 
  • Manage our global AWS services and infrastructure while assisting in the deployment and roll-out of new features and products. 
  • Troubleshoot application and service issues or system outages while clearly communicating status updates with management and engineering teams. 
  • Participate in an on-call rotation. 
  • Subscribe to the DevOps mentality and the philosophy of automating everything. 
  • Build and implement CI/CD solutions in an AWS environment with Jenkins / ArgoCD at the center, and automate the code delivery pipeline with the goal of one click deployments, rollbacks, and parameterized builds. 
  • Work with the development team to cross-pollinate SRE/DevOps processes and ensure that new architectures are drawn up with operability, stability and scalability in mind. 
  • Serve as a key member of the SRE team while managing the overall system health, performance, and capacity of Cloud9 internal and client facing systems.

 

Required Qualifications:

  • Hands-on experience with AWS (e.g. EC2, EKS, Aurora MySQL, S3, DynamoDB, Lambda, etc…) 
  • Experience with Containers and Kubernetes 
  • Experience with Infrastructure-as-Code (e.g. Terraform, Ansible) 
  • Experience in scripting (e.g. Bash, Python) 
  • Experience with logging/monitoring (e.g. DataDog, Splunk) 
  • Networking experience 
  • Background in Unix/Linux administration
  • Effective communication skills and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment 
  • M.S. in Computer Science, Engineering or a related discipline
  • Experience with CI/CD with GitHub/Jenkins/ArgoCD 
  • Google Cloud Platform experience 
  • ITIL knowledge 
  • Security knowledge
