This role is responsible for overseeing and optimising the Material Handling Equipment (MHE) fleet operations, warehouse racking systems, energy data management and managing waste disposal and recycling processes. Leading compliance statutory records and inspections for the site (PUWER, LOLER etc), ensuring these are upheld and documented.  Responsible for assisting in formulating and delivering MHE training across all levels of the business, and managing the activities of MHE and Waste contractors.

Key Responsibilities

Daily Operations Management: Manage and supervise daily operations of the Material Handling Equipment (MHE) fleet, including forklifts, pallet trucks, MEWPS, and other equipment.

Maintenance Scheduling: Develop and implement maintenance schedules to ensure regular inspections, servicing, and repairs, keeping the fleet in top working condition.

Issue Resolution: Collaborate with the team to address MHE breakdowns or issues promptly, minimizing downtime and disruptions.

Training Coordination: Liaise with the training department to ensure adequate MHE training for site teams and assist in formulating and delivering MHE-specific training.

Regulatory Compliance: Ensure compliance with statutory and health, safety, and environmental regulations related to MHE fleet operations, racking, and waste management.

Data Management and Reporting: Maintain accurate records on MHE, racking, waste, energy consumption, and safety data; analyze this data to identify trends and opportunities for improvement, and generate reports for site KPIs/OKRs.

Contractor Liaison: Serve as the first point of contact for MHE, racking, and waste contractors, managing their activities on site and ensuring timely repairs and maintenance.

Standards and Audits: Ensure compliance with Standard Operating Procedures and assist with audits regarding Food Safety, Health & Safety Standards, and other specified standards (e.g., BRCGS, ISO).

Who you are:

• Previous experience in delivering MHE-specific training both written and practical in groups.
• Previous experience in MHE fleet management and waste management, preferably within the food manufacturing industry.
• Strong data analytical skills
• Strong knowledge of MHE equipment and operations, waste disposal regulations and sustainability practices. 
• Familiarity with safety protocols and compliance standards related to MHE operations and waste handling.
• Effective communication and leadership abilities to collaborate with cross-functional teams.
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to make data-driven decisions.
• Excellent project management abilities, with the capacity to prioritise tasks, manage timelines, and deliver results within budget.
