About the role

The Social Media Marketing Manager, English will oversee daily operations of Crunchyroll’s network of English social media pages -- Crunchyroll’s social media footprint is one of the entertainment industry's largest with over 150 million followers worldwide across every major platform with continued growth far beyond industry standards.

You are passionate about anime, fandom communities, the anime industry, and have a basic knowledge of the environment and players. We are looking for someone who is creative and excited to engage a passionate fan base. As a team leader, you will manage full-time and contract staff for the English social media team. You will oversee daily social operations and title promotions for the sake of off-platform audience growth and engagement, and assisting with preparation and execution of strategic campaigns and initiatives. This is a cross-functional role where you will work with departments such as brand management, editorial, public relations and more to deliver positive outcomes, though not at the expense of maintaining a meaningful relationship with the audience. In this role, you may need to tend to our social channels on nights and weekends on occasion. 

A day in the life of the Social Media Marketing Manager:
  • Oversee daily social operations and title promotion
  • Lead regional content development, responsible for overseeing content creation on various channels, including briefing internal Creative Services and external agencies, guiding creative direction, and optimizing content based on channel and audience insights
  • Ensure that campaigns, content, daily tasks and requests from other teams align with team and business goals, while taking into account competing priorities and ROI
  • Oversee a team of social media coordinators, maximizing their skills and dedicating meaningful time to developing their talents. Train incoming staff on institutional processes and Crunchyroll best practices
  • Continue to develop the voice for each brand and contribute to our social media best practices, with regular experimentation, research and professional development. Provide training on best practices for social media brand voice for all staff
  • Be an internal subject matter expert for digital anime communities, and assist regional social media leads in gaining access to content, insights, and data from HQ
  • Develop and contribute to our social media standard methodologies, with frequent experimentation and research. 
  • Support communications between title marketing, brand management and content operations to ensure high-impact content launches with the support of impactful organic social marketing tactics
  • Help build GTM social media strategy for new businesses for the English-speaking markets, including music, manga and theatrical
  • Contribute to social media metrics reporting and analysis
  • Keep up with up-to-the-minute social media trends, new platforms, content types, and insights from the anime community

In the role of Social Media Marketing Manager, you will report to the Senior Manager, Social Media Strategy. We are considering applicants for the location of Dallas, San Francisco, or Los Angeles (Culver City).

About You

  • You have 5-7 years of experience in social media or community marketing, with a preference towards work in the world of entertainment or media
  • You have demonstrated understanding of major social media platforms, how to tailor content by platform, and what kind of content works best to meet specific marketing or business goals; able to mentor others in best practices
  • You have experience working on successful, creative, and innovative social media campaigns
  • You have experience using analytics and data to support rapid growth and impactful content strategy
  • You have experience managing multiple priorities simultaneously and working across teams
  • You have experience working in a hybrid (remote and in-office) team environment 
  • You have intermediate+ skills with visual design, including basic (or higher) experience with Adobe Photoshop
  • You have a strong sense of internet culture and trends in content and storytelling 

A plus if you have:

  • Japanese language skills
  • Paid Social campaign management experience with upper-funnel awareness
  • Knowledge of the anime industry, history of anime internet culture, or active participation in the anime fandom community

The Crunchyroll Audience Development team focuses on connecting with fans directly through social media, editorial content via Crunchyroll News, influencer marketing and more. Focusing not only on engaging with existing current anime fans but also welcoming new anime viewers into our community, our content reaches millions of anime fans directly every week.

The Pay Range for this position is listed. Actual pay will vary based on factors including, but not limited to location, experience, and performance. The range listed is just one component of Crunchyroll’s Total Rewards offerings for employees.
