As a Software Engineer in the Data Governance & Privacy team, you’ll work closely with engineers, analysts, and legal stakeholders to build and maintain systems that ensure data compliance, security, and optimization. From creating scalable data pipelines to implementing governance tools, your work will directly impact how Trustpilot handles and secures its data assets.

What you’ll be doing:
  • Design, implement, and maintain scalable data pipelines that ensure efficient data flows and support data cataloguing and labelling efforts.
  • Apply solid software engineering principles to build reliable systems that meet data governance needs and uphold data quality.
  • Collaborate with the team to automate data processes, including tagging, classification, and retention policies.
  • Work closely with Legal, Security, and Product teams to ensure compliance with industry regulations (e.g., GDPR, CCPA).
  • Identify opportunities for process optimization, enhancing data management efficiency while reducing costs.
  • Engage in continuous learning and development to stay up-to-date on data governance trends and tools.
  • Help cultivate a culture of data ownership and responsibility throughout the organization.

Who you are:

  • A solid background in software engineering, with proficiency in Python, Java, or similar languages, and experience building scalable, reliable systems.
  • Prior experience in data governance is a bonus, but not essential.
  • Familiarity with cloud platforms like AWS, GCP, or Azure.
  • Experience with data processing tools (e.g., Kafka, Airflow, BigQuery) is beneficial, but not required.
  • Advanced problem-solving skills, with the ability to devise creative solutions to complex challenges.
  • Proficient in communication, facilitating seamless collaboration with teams of diverse expertise.
  • A proactive mindset, with a desire to learn and grow in data governance and privacy practices.
