About the Team

The Growth Engineering team at Mixpanel is responsible for increasing user activation and driving self-serve revenue. We work closely with Product, Design, and Marketing to grow the funnel of customers landing on our platform, implementing Mixpanel, and seeing value fast. We move fast, experiment constantly, and measure everything.

Within growth: this role is for the Top of Funnel Pod, a small crew specifically targeting user acquisition and activation. Some examples of what we’ve shipped lately:

  • AI powered Template event suggestions
  • Improving the discoverability of Templates
  • AI install wizard - get set up and have your data flowing faster
About the Role

As a Software Engineer on the Growth team, you will build and optimize the experiences that drive user acquisition, activation, and conversion at Mixpanel. A key focus of this role is web experimentation — you'll design, implement, and analyze A/B tests across our marketing site and product onboarding flows to improve key growth metrics. You'll work across the full stack, from frontend UI changes to backend data pipelines, and collaborate with Product and Design to turn experiment insights into product improvements. This is a high-impact role where your work directly influences Mixpanel's top-of-funnel growth and self-serve revenue.

Responsibilities
  • Develop experiments across Mixpanel's product and onboarding flows to optimize acquisition and activation metrics
  • Partner with Product and Design to identify high-impact experiment hypotheses grounded in data and user research
  • Instrument tracking and build dashboards (in Mixpanel!) to measure experiment outcomes and inform iteration
  • Build and improve onboarding experiences that drive down time to value for new Mixpanel users
  • Participate in team on-call rotation to improve our systems and keep them healthy
We're Looking For Someone Who Has
  • At least 2 years of full-stack software engineering experience
  • Excellent debugging and technical investigation skills
  • Strong technical communication, ideally with experience collaborating in an asynchronous remote environment
  • Ability to move fast and iterate — you take ownership of problems and focus on delivering value to users
  • A data-driven mindset
Bonus Points For
  • Interest in leveraging AI/GenAI to accelerate experimentation workflows
  • Prior experience on a growth engineering team or in a growth-focused role
  • React / TypeScript experience
  • Django / Python experience
  • Experience with experimentation platforms (e.g. Mixpanel, Optimizely, LaunchDarkly, Statsig, or similar)

Compensation

The amount listed below is the total target cash compensation (TTCC) and includes base compensation and variable compensation in the form of either a company bonus or commissions. Variable compensation type is determined by your role and level. In addition to the cash compensation provided, this position is also eligible for equity consideration and other benefits including medical, vision, and dental insurance coverage. You can view our benefits offerings here.Our salary ranges are determined by role and level and are benchmarked to the SF Bay Area Technology data cut released by Radford, a global compensation database. The range displayed represents the minimum and maximum TTCC for new hire salaries for the position across all of our US locations. To stay on top of market conditions, we refresh our salary ranges twice a year so these ranges may change in the future. Within the range, individual pay is determined by experience, job-related skills, qualifications, and other factors.
