For example, our apps take advantage of augmented reality, computer vision-assisted product search using the device’s camera, and machine learning to create personalized experiences and improve the speed of the app. 

The App Platforms Infra team plays a pivotal role in the seamless functioning of our suite of 10+ native Android and iOS apps, ensuring their efficient build and release at scale. As owners of the infrastructure supporting these apps, we are entrusted with maintaining a robust framework that facilitates the development and deployment processes. We are seeking an experienced engineer who is deeply passionate about delivering high-quality software and enhancing developer experiences across our software development lifecycle. The ideal candidate will possess expertise in native app development for the iOS platform, experience building or enhancing CI/CD for iOS Apps, experience collaboration with external partners, and a desire to learn. This role lives at the boundaries of Mobile Engineering. It offers the opportunity to put a variety of skills to work: knowledge of mobile platforms, build systems, scripting, systems administration, CI/CD, native app frameworks and more. 

 

What You'll Do:

  • Maintain and shape build system deployment and architecture (Buildkite/GCP/Docker)
  • Maintain the private mac cloud infrastructure (MacStadium/Orka) 
  • Build and maintain tools (Xcode/Bash/Swift/Python/Typescript primarily) for managing both local developer experience and CI/CD builds 
  • Identify new opportunities to enhance developer experience through building new tools and automation that makes working with our projects more accessible + user-friendly for engineers 
  • Use data and metrics to collaboratively drive impactful changes. Identify process improvements to keep our project up to date, reduce complexity, and increase developer productivity 
  • Work deeply with other teams to troubleshoot issues with CI/CD release process
  • Ensure that the documentation for build tools and process stay up to date
  • Proactively learn about new releases and changes to iOS development
  • Review code and provide guidance for other developers participating in our release approval process. 
  • Create and improve team owned observability dashboards (Datadog) 

 

What You'll Need:

Basic Qualifications

  • 1-3 years of transferable software development experience in a corporate environment, including internship and co-op experience
  • Bachelors or Masters degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or another related technical discipline

Preferred Qualifications

  • Understanding of CI/CD systems 
  • Engineering experience with iOS Application Development with interest in deep-diving into platform build tools (Xcode/Xcodegen/Fastlane) 
  • A drive to learn about new libraries and technologies, stay on the cutting edge of the evolving mobile landscape and an eagerness to create experiences that will delight users. 
  • A genuine belief that constructive and respectful code reviews are the bedrock of a healthy team. 
  • Experience with the following is nice to have: 
    • Swift, SwiftUI, UIKit, SwiftPM 
    • Buildkite or similar (ex. Circle CI, Jenkins, etc.) CI/CD systems

Wayfair's In-Office Policy:

All Boston-based interns, co-ops, and corporate employees will be in office in a hybrid capacity. Employees will work in the office on designated days, Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday, and work remotely the other 2 days of the week.
