As one of the early members of the team here in our strategic technology delivery center, you will partner closely with our technology and business leaders from around the world to help build the platform to support our growth plans to $50B USD and beyond in the next 3 to 5 years.

The team in the Bengaluru delivery center can work across multiple domains that drive speed and convenience for the customer and cost efficiency across the full value chain. Key Responsibilities:

• Implement solutions and automation for managing petabyte-scale database environments by influencing the design and architecture of Wayfair system as part of Cloud Enablement journey whilst maintaining our critical pieces of Legacy Tools
• Develop and enforce database best practices and standards to ensure data integrity, security, and performance.
• Automate infra provisioning, configuration, monitoring, and maintenance tasks using DevOps tools and practices.
• Collaborate with development and operations teams to integrate database solutions into the CI/CD pipeline.
• Monitor the infra with a focus on database performance, troubleshoot issues, and implement solutions to optimize performance and reliability.
• Conduct regular database & infra health checks, backup and recovery operations, and disaster recovery planning.
• Improve observability by implementing monitoring, tracing and logging, enabling exposure of Service Level Indicators (SLIs) and adherence to Service Level Objectives (SLOs) and error budgets
• Act as a lead engineer for production incidents to drive collaboration, resolution, identification of root cause, and changes required to prevent future occurrences
• Participate in a follow the sun on-call rotation supporting and troubleshooting issues off-hours and during promotional events
• Design and implement self-service offerings for frictionless onboarding based on stakeholder requirements
• Mentor junior engineers to develop the next generation of Wayfair engineering

• 3+ years experience working in DevOps or SRE space, or software development with an understanding of Cloud Infrastructure
• Experience with server-side software engineering (Powershell, Java, Go, Perl, Python etc)
• Expertise in SQL Server - preferably, exposure or experience in at least one of the following cloud database technologies: Cloud SQL for Postgres, Cloud Spanner
• Experience working with public cloud providers such as GCP, AWS, or Azure, and running database systems at large scales/volumes
• Experience with infrastructure as code and configuration management tools such as Terraform and Puppet
• Proven experience in automating operational and manual tasks 
• Proven experience and successful track record of leading ambitious large scale projects as an individual contributor
• String written and oral communication skills with a high degree of comfort speaking with developers, stakeholders, vendors and leadership

Nice To Have:

• Passion for leading a large, cross-cutting technical initiative to delivery, cross-functional consensus building and influencing design decisions
• Ample experience gathering and balancing requirements from technical and business stakeholders, and reaching consensus on prioritization
• Experience mentoring engineers and leading code reviews
