Software Engineer in Test- Engineering Productivity
We're Celonis, the global leader in Process Mining technology and one of the world's fastest-growing SaaS firms. We believe there is a massive opportunity to unlock productivity by placing data and intelligence at the core of business processes - and for that, we need you to join us.
The Team:As part of the Engineering Productivity team, you work with a group of people that have deep expertise in a particular field of software engineering. The aim of our team is to provide tooling, frameworks, and test setups that make testing and debugging easier. You’ll work closely with many engineering roles including developers, SREs, SETs, product managers, and QEs, advocating shift left and building the practices that make performant, high quality systems part of our DNA.
At Celonis, we live for Customer Value. We want a product that consistently delivers at or above expectations for our customers, and we’re looking for your keen insights to help us deliver on that promise!
The Role:
As a Software Engineer in Test, you will play a leading role bringing test infrastructure, test data and test frameworks - for frontend and backend services - on the road, maintaining and improving our existing libraries and tackling challenges on the way. To understand and detect engineering inefficiencies we generate and/or extract data from various sources, analyze them and derive appropriate measures. You’ll also help more junior engineers succeed in incorporating testability into our code and write automated tests, training and mentoring them on their technical career path.
You’ll use your understanding of our architecture and software quality needs to determine the right tools to standardize on, and what testing should be performed at what level.
The work you’ll do:
- Analysis of the whole SDLC for inefficiencies in debugging and testing activities
- Collect any kind of relevant metrics and report KPIs to help teams gauge progress towards and alignment with our goal of shift-left continuous testing
- Design and implementation of tools, infrastructure, any other required measure to simplify testing and debugging for various stakeholders
- Enhance product testability by partnering with engineering. Boost observability, increase code coverage, and improve test effectiveness through collaborative efforts
- Provide building blocks and guidance to engineering teams for testing quality attributes like performance, scalability, traceability, accessibility and others
- Build quality gates into Continuous Delivery pipelines so that automated tests are run often and fail fast to provide earlier feedback on delivery risks
- Guide a technical roadmap to keep test automation current by discussing, innovating, evolving, maintaining and improving the patterns, tooling and frameworks
The qualifications you need:
- University degree in Computer Science or Software Engineering
- 5 (3+) years of hands-on software engineering experience
- Problem-solving mindset, creativity, and simplicity
- Have a curiosity about how things work and a desire to improve them
- Proficient in more than one programming language including Java, Typescript, JavaScript, or Python
- Skilled at pulling and analyzing data from various sources, especially using SQL
- In depth knowledge of execution and analysis of test automation frameworks
- Experience with CI/CD tools such as GitHub Actions
- Familiar with containerization technologies (e.g. Docker, Kubernetes)
- Excellent English verbal and written communication skills
