We are looking for an experienced Software Engineer in Test (SET) to join the Risk Tech team. Our vision is to tangibly reduce risk on the Lyft platform, and build the best tools and workflows for both internal and external parties to collect and report accident details quickly, accurately and provide people with the help they need. Our team is dedicated to establishing a single, Unified Risk Platform where the end to end claim workflows across all teams/business lines are efficiently managed, all communications are consolidated, all data is organized for data-driven intelligence, which enables a cost-efficient claim operation and ultimately drives down risks and cost as Lyft businesses scale.

A Software Engineer in Test (SET) will be the driving force behind a comprehensive automation strategy defining test implementation and increasing coverage. This is a hands-on position. You will schedule and participate in internal testing efforts, collaborate closely with product feature teams as they develop new features, and ensure every release happens on time without regression.

• Collaborate with product teams to understand the testing needs, identify test scenarios, perform exploratory testing, and design test automation
• Create testing plans, both manual and automated, for new and existing products and features in line with product goals
• Improve our existing test automation frameworks and infrastructure and support engineers in writing automated test
• Tests API, web and mobile based applications that reference database back-end systems.
• Maintain existing UI and API tests, monitor failures and report bugs
• Build and maintain systems to monitor test stability and report stability issues back to engineers
• Write well-crafted, well-tested, readable, and maintainable code
• Participate actively in code reviews to ensure code quality, promote best practices, and distribute technical

• 3+ years of hands-on industry experience as an SDET, developer, or strong Automation Engineer
• Strong object-oriented programming experience
• Proficiency in Java/Kotlin or Swift for mobile platforms
• Familiarity with Espresso/XCUItest is strongly desired
• Proficiency in Python for API test (integration test)
• Solid experience in building automation frameworks and writing reliable, scalable, and reusable automated tests
• Have worked on mobile platform and have a very good understanding of and ability to troubleshoot the testing ecosystem
• Strong experience in developing and documenting test plan, test cases and reporting bugs for complex features
• Experience and willingness to work with other teams such as engineering, product and release teams
• Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to quickly learn and adapt when faced with ambiguous or unfamiliar technical challenges.

This role will be in-office on a hybrid schedule — Team Members will be expected to work in the office 3 days per week on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays. Additionally, hybrid roles have the flexibility to work from anywhere for up to 4 weeks per year. #Hybrid

The expected base pay range for this position in the Toronto area is $108,000-148,500 CAD. Salary ranges are dependent on a variety of factors, including qualifications, experience and geographic location. Range is not inclusive of potential equity offering, bonus or benefits.
