About the job

This position is needed to help Twilio keep pace and innovate solutions with the evolving Messaging Compliance ecosystem for the Toll Free Channel.

Our team enables customers to send messages in Compliance for their Toll Free number types. In this role, you’ll:

  • Own multiple services powering Twilio’s Toll Free Verification services
  • Design and develop elegant and scalable solutions across a wide variety of contexts, fronted with a highly available and responsive API
  • Technical leader and a mentor to junior members of the team
  • Work in a distributed-first team and collaborating with a variety of engineer and non-engineer roles across multiple teams and business units
Qualifications

Not all applicants will have skills that match a job description exactly. Twilio values diverse experiences in other industries, and we encourage everyone who meets the required qualifications to apply. While having “desired” qualifications make for a strong candidate, we encourage applicants with alternative experiences to also apply. If your career is just starting or hasn't followed a traditional path, don't let that stop you from considering Twilio. We are always looking for people who will bring something new to the table!

Required:

  • Strong fundamental knowledge of software development and best practices, especially with respect to web service implementation.
  • Understanding the ins and outs of external systems integration, with defensive and hardened approaches to mitigate downstream issues.
  • Understanding how to build asynchronous services for customers
  • Demonstrated commitment to seeking diverse viewpoints and acting with intention to create an inclusive team environment.
  • An unwillingness to settle for “good enough”, instead staying focused on longevity through well-tested code and continuous improvement.

Desired:

5+ years of Engineering experience, developing and maintaining high traffic services.
  • Experience with JVM languages. Python and Go familiarity is helpful.
  • Familiarity with DynamoDB is awesome, but not strictly required.
  • Maintaining and operating always-on cloud services.
