The Core Services team builds a distributed state machine to track rides and drivers from request through completion. As a SWE on the team, you’ll work in Python and Golang microservices, to enhance the reliability and performance of ride state transitions, integrate new rider and driver facing products, and platformize the tech stack to enable faster product iteration. If you are excited about solving back-end distributed systems problems and owning a mission-critical part of Lyft’s operations, this team is for you.

Responsibilities:
  • Design, develop, deploy, monitor, operate and maintain existing or new elements of the core services tech stack
  • Write well-crafted, well-tested, readable, maintainable code
  • Participate in code reviews to ensure code quality and distribute knowledge
  • Proactively participate in resolving ongoing incidents
  • Share your knowledge by giving brown bags, tech talks, and promoting appropriate tech and engineering best practices
  • Unblock, support, and communicate with internal partners to achieve results
Experience:
  • 2+ years of software engineering industry experience working on distributed systems and microservices
  • BS/MS or equivalent in Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or related field or relevant work experience
  • Experience with object-oriented programming
  • Experience working with distributed systems (must have)
  • Experience working with databases, relational or NoSQL
  • Experience working with public cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, GCP, Microsoft Azure, etc.)
  • Experience writing clear and scalable design documentation
  • Experience designing, building and improving a set of team owned components

This role will be in-office on a hybrid schedule — Team Members will be expected to work in the office 3 days per week on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays. Additionally, hybrid roles have the flexibility to work from anywhere for up to 4 weeks per year. #Hybrid

The expected base pay range for this position in the Seattle area is $128,000 - $160,000. Salary ranges are dependent on a variety of factors, including qualifications, experience and geographic location. Range is not inclusive of potential equity offering, bonus or benefits.
