Software Engineering Internship - Summer 2025

Location: Toronto, Ontario, Canada
Our Engineering team within our Technology organization is building the future of home and looking for dynamic, hardworking and talented students to join us in Summer 2025 for a 12 week internship from June 2, 2025-August 23, 2025. As a Software Engineering Intern you will dive into a number of complex technical projects and gain a better understanding of our business. You will have the opportunity to work within one of the following groups:
Global Supplier Tech: Wayfair sells millions of products and this team owns all the data, tools, and systems that create and manage the content on the site related to each product. We build tools for our thousands of suppliers to send us content we need to be able to sell their products on site. This team makes sure the customer has the information they need to be confident when purchasing for their home. Within Catalog, there are also teams such as pricing & competitive intelligence engineering, merchandising & media engineering, and virtual media.
Platforms Tech: Responsible for the entire Wayfair website and all backend components that fuels and powers production. You can be an embedded engineer or a platform engineer. Embedded engineers work directly with engineering verticals to build and consult in building new initiatives. Platform engineers are subject matter experts for languages and engineering tools. You can expect to work with engineers that thrive in collaboration and expertise in one of Wayfair’s supported languages or frameworks including Java, .NET, Python, PHP, Backstage, Buildkite, or SonarQube. You can expect to work with engineers that thrive in collaboration and expertise in one of Wayfair’s supported languages (Java, .NET, Python, PHP, Javascript, with some Golang and Rust) and frameworks (Backstage, Buildkite, SonarQube, Puppet, Terraform and others).
What You’ll Do:
- You will work on individual and group projects focused on the full project life-cycle
- You will collaborate with business leaders and key stakeholders to brainstorm on how to solve the challenge
What You’ll Need:
Basic Qualifications:
- Currently pursuing a Bachelors or higher with the expectation that degree will be obtained between December 2025 and August 2026
- Must be returning to the course of study following completion of the internship
Preferred Qualifications:
- You are currently enrolled in a full-time undergraduate degree program in Computer Science or a related technical field
- You have a proven track record of strong academic performance.
- You may have experience with full stack and/or mobile development.
- You may have knowledge and experience working with object oriented programming languages.
- You may have experience or exposure to SQL, JavaScript and HTML, Python, HTML/CSS (this is not required for all teams)
- You have an interest in working with big data and machine learning
- You enjoy autonomy and the opportunity to make a project or tool on your own
- You have strong communication skills
- You will be exposed to a broad spectrum of technologies and programming languages
- We will help you improve your designs and jumpstart your learning
- You will have accessibility to technology/engineering leadership who want to hear your ideas
- You will receive professional development training to improve your soft and hard skills

Wayfair’s Internship Program
Our Summer Internship Program is a paid, full-time program in our Toronto, Canada office for 12 weeks, June 2-August 22. No matter who you are, we want Wayfair to be a place where you feel at home. An Important Note about Wayfair's In-Office Policy:
All Toronto-based interns, co-ops, and corporate employees will be in office in a hybrid capacity. Employees will work in the office on designated days Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday, and work remotely Monday and Friday.
