Software Engineering Manager, Supplier Advertising Experience

We are looking for outstanding candidates to join us as full time Software Development Manager. Successful candidates will have led teams that solve complex and broad business problems with simple and straightforward, scalable, and performant solutions, applying appropriate technologies and software engineering best practices. You will also have a focus on the supplier experience, great teamwork and communication skills, and a motivation to achieve results in a fast paced environment.You will lead an Agile team at our development center in Toronto, Canada, launching and growing the offsite Retail Media Network (RMN), a net new addition to our Supplier Advertising Experience suite. This addition allows suppliers to promote their products directly on the offsite Retail Media Network, providing customers with an enhanced shopping experience. With RMN, suppliers have increased visibility and control over their offsite advertising campaigns through a dedicated platform to manage sponsored offerings, performance and budgets. Your team will own the business, technology and operations of this system, giving you the responsibility and authority to ensure success. You will be involved in every aspect of the process  from idea generation, business analysis and technical design through to software development across a variety of technologies.

What You’ll Do:

  • Lead and manage a team of 5 - 9 engineers focused on building services that support the new Wayfair Retail Media Network program and its integration with external websites and advertising systems.
  • Own the output of the team both from a technical and performance perspective.
  • Mentor engineers in the team through training, coaching, code reviews, and 1:1 mentorship providing career and professional development for your staff.
  • Accountable for the systems built by your team including technical design, development, test, monitoring, and deployment.
  • Engage your team to construct the technical roadmap and lead planning, delivery and continuous improvement.
  • Partner with product on defining roadmaps and ensure the team has a compelling mission with well defined KPIs to measure progress and success.
  • Raise the bar from both a technical and process perspective.

What You'll Need:

  • 10+ years of experience in software engineering, with expertise in designing and building scalable platforms.
  • 5+ years of experience managing a team of high caliber Software Engineers developing complex, world class, scalable software systems that have been successfully delivered to customers
  • Experience with Cloud Native architecture platforms like Google Cloud, AWS, or Azure.
  • Experience in backend software engineering using object oriented language 
  • Experience working with relational and non-relational databases
  • Experience working with event-driven architectures, DDD, and TDD
  • Experience partnering with product or program management team
  • Experience partnering with cross-functional engineering and science teams
  • Knowledge of engineering practices and patterns for the full software/hardware/networks development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, certification, and live site operations
  • Experience in leading the definition and development of multi tier web services
  • Experience designing or architecting (design patterns, reliability and scaling) of new and existing systems
  • Experience in recruiting, hiring, mentoring/coaching and managing teams of Software Engineers to improve their skills, and make them more effective product software engineers
  • Experience analyzing business and operational metrics.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Computer Science degree or postgraduate study. In lieu of a degree, relevant skills and equivalent experience.

Nice To Have :

  • Experience in communicating with users, other technical teams, and senior leadership to collect requirements, describe software product features, technical designs, and product strategy
  • Experience in the digital advertising or marketing space
  • Familiarity with the technical aspects of digital / display advertising
  • Or Familiarity with high speed, ML heavy systems
