SPACEPORT INTEGRATION MANAGER

As a Spaceport Integration Manager, you will be responsible for coordinating spaceport development with all external and internal departments in Cape Canaveral. You will be a face to customers and multiple government entities for the launch site. In this role you will be responsible for ensuring ground systems and flight hardware (rockets and payloads) are compliant with requirements for hazardous operations on-base, maintaining launch site certification, pushing back on unnecessary requirements, and streamlining existing processes. This role will be a critical enabler for the 2024 manifest increase as we streamline our regulatory requirements and processes.

You will represent SpaceX to the Range and our government customers. This includes maintaining a strong relationship with Range Safety to ensure we obtain and maintain approval for all hazardous operations. Additionally, you will need to ensure we maintain launch site certification with the USSF, NASA, and NRO government customers. Lastly, you will represent SpaceX to Range leadership, directly supporting the Site Director, to ensure that SpaceX is fully coordinated at all levels on-base to enable tactical and strategic needs at the launch site.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Function as the primary point of contact for the Range. You will be the owner of all Range requirements and safety documentation. This includes regular recurring tag ups to drive continuous progress.
  • Function as the primary point of contact for our government customers. Manage government customer certification requirements and oversight of changes for all launch site ground systems (Starship, F9, pads, and Dragon).
  • Communicate the strategic direction of SpaceX including launch manifest, construction, standards, safety, and security measures to ensure effective and timely approval, support, & execution with customers and the Range
  • Manage conflicts that arise with tactical execution with the base and base leadership and other launch providers
  • Actively streamline the launch process for safe and reliable, robust, rapid and cost-effective launch by challenging requirements and typical timelines/cost

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor's degree
  • 2+ years of experience leading technical process improvements and/or serving in a technical project management capacity in an aerospace environment
  • 2+ years of experience leading teams, projects, or people

PREFERRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Professional experience with launch vehicle integration or pad operations
  • Excellent written and verbal skills
  • Experience successfully negotiating complex agreements or issues to resolution
  • Demonstrated technical aptitude for the products you have supported
  • Regulatory compliance experience, specifically with tailoring requirements
  • Experience working with cross-functional teams and external customers
  • Highly detail oriented, diligent, hard working

ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS: 

  • Must be willing to pursue a clearance if not already cleared with Top Secret or Top Secret SCI. An active clearance may provide the opportunity for you to work on sensitive SpaceX missions. If so, you will be subject to pre-employment drug and random drug and alcohol testing
  • Must be available to work extended hours and/or weekends as needed to support critical milestones or operations
  • Must be willing to travel to other SpaceX offices, vendors, and customers as necessary; occasional travel, approximately 5%
  • Occasionally exposed to work in extreme outdoor environments – heat, cold, rain, ice
  • Ability to work in extreme environments – heat, cold, rain, fumes, odors, and noise
  • Ability to pass Air Force background checks for Cape Canaveral and Vandenberg

COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS:                             

Pay range: $110,000.00 - $145,000.00/per year     

Your actual level and base salary will be determined on a case-by-case basis and may vary based on the following considerations: job-related knowledge and skills, education, and experience.

Base salary is just one part of your total rewards package at SpaceX.   • To conform to U.S. Government export regulations, applicant must be a (i) U.S. citizen or national, (ii) U.S. lawful, permanent resident (aka green card holder), (iii) Refugee under 8 U.S.C. § 1157, or (iv) Asylee under 8 U.S.C. § 1158, or be eligible to obtain the required authorizations from the U.S. Department of State.
