Prosek’s Special Situations Apprentice Program offers post graduate students the opportunity to launch their careers in financial communications. Our 6-month program is designed to train the next generation of PR agency professionals.

In this program, you’ll get the chance to work in a fast-paced environment alongside some of the biggest household financial services names in the world and play a critical role on the Special Situations team. You are expected to have the ability to juggle multiple projects in an exciting and fast-paced environment.

Our special situations team guides companies through pivotal milestones and events in their evolutions, from transformative M&A to reputation-defining crises. We help companies “nail the narrative” and secure lasting buy-in with the audiences that matter most.

 

Program Overview and Responsibilities

Real Work Experience

Prosek Apprentices will do tasks such as:

Daily Administrative

  • Do daily monitoring and analysis of key trends and activity impacting current and potential transaction activity
  • Provide ongoing updates and customization of pitch decks
  • League table tracking and submission
  • Project management, tracking and reporting
  • Learn to monitor SEC and legal filings

Media Relations

  • Secure relevant media opportunities on behalf of clients, including embargoed media exclusives around strategic announcements
  • Assist Prosek team with client media prep sessions
  • Develop a keen understanding and knowledge of the media landscape
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with reporters who cover your clients’ transactions/announcements

Writing

  • Deliver first drafts of external and internal client communications, including but not limited to: press releases, messaging, memos, fight letters, FAQ/Q&A, fact sheets, investor presentations, talking points, management scripts, media briefing materials, and related transaction documents, etc.

 

Professional Development and Training

Prosek’s Boot Camp program is a curriculum curated and taught by top leaders across the firm on a weekly basis throughout the program. Our Boot Camps are designed to educate Apprentices on both PR and our client sectors. Topics of education include:

  • Capital Markets and Asset Management
  • Professional Services and Financial Technology
  • Media Training and Reporter Relationship Building
  • Crisis Communications and Special Situations
  • Wealth Management and Banking
  • Client Readiness

 

Internal Network and Support

We invest heavily into the growth and support for our Prosek Apprentices, pairing each Apprentice with a manager, a media buddy and a mentor.

  • Managers are responsible for identifying their Apprentice’s strengths, areas for development, and interests to ensure they’re given the right tools to succeed.
  • Media mentors help Apprentices navigate the financial media landscape and develop their media relations skills.
  • Mentors provide support to Apprentices as they acclimate to a new environment and corporate culture.

 

The goal of Prosek’s Special Situations Apprentice Program is to develop Apprentices into Assistant Account Executives by the end of the program.

 

Experience and Qualifications

  • Completed BS/BA degree by the start of the program.
  • Strong interest in financial services, professional services, technology, and B2B communications.
  • Strong interest in “special situations work” including mergers & acquisitions, shareholder activism, crisis and litigation support, and more.
  • Strong analytical, research, written, and verbal skills.
  • Possess a team player mindset and willingness to work collaboratively.
  • Adaptable and able to work in a fast-paced culture
  • Have solid research and critical thinking skills along with strong time management and prioritization skills.
  • Extreme attention to detail is a must.
  • Strongly encouraged (but not required) to have prior PR internship(s).

 

The anticipated pay rate for this position is $20/hour.
