SR. CUSTOMS OPERATIONS SPECIALIST (STARLINK)Are you passionate about international trade and customs compliance? Do you thrive in fast-paced environments where no two days are the same? We're looking for a Sr. Customs Operations Specialist to take charge of our import operations, ensuring seamless global transactions and compliance with international regulations. If you're detail-oriented, love problem-solving, and want to make a direct impact on global supply chains, this is the role for you! As part of our team, you’ll be at the heart of our import operations—managing imports, navigating customs regulations, and ensuring compliance with international trade laws. You will collaborate with customs brokers, freight forwarders, and government agencies, keeping our supply chain running smoothly and efficiently.

RESPONSIBILITIES:  

  • Manage daily import activities and coordinate with customs brokers, vendors, couriers, and freight forwarders
  • Accurately classify HTS for US imports as needed by business segment and/or broker as required
  • Assist in the development of recursive solutions for import duties, tariff, and tax mitigation strategies
  • Drive accurate import/export classifications and processes with internal and external stakeholders to ensure adherence to country-specific harmonized tariff schedules
  • Work with government agencies like FDA, EPA, and CBP, while handling duties related to Free Trade Agreements, AD/CVD, Section 201/301/232, and quota management
  • Monitor U.S. imports for timely customs clearance and proactively resolve any issues that arise
  • Assist in reviewing commercial invoices for outbound shipping requests to ensure compliance and accuracy
  • Assist in development and duty communications and rate implications for the business to manage duty drawback programs
  • Conduct document reviews and audit customs entries while ensuring accurate and complete record keeping are maintained per regulations

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor's degree in business, supply chain, international business, logistics, OR 4+ of experience working with U.S. Customs and/or other international trade regulatory agencies (relevant internships count)
  • 3+ years of experience of experience classifying Harmonized Tariff Schedule (HTS) Classification

PREFERRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:

  • 1+ years of experience working with duty drawback program
  • Demonstrated ability to accurately classify goods, ensuring compliance with international trade regulations
  • In-depth experience with U.S. Customs regulations (19 CFR) including the establishment and implementation of comprehensive import/export compliance programs
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills, with a keen eye for detail and process optimization
  • Excellent communication, problem solving, and presentation skills to clearly convey complex information to diverse audiences and partners
  • Skilled in individual negotiations with the ability to build relationships and influence outcomes across internal teams and external partners
  • Highly detail-oriented, self-motivated, and capable of thriving in fast-paced, dynamic environments with shifting priorities
  • Familiarity with government agency requirements like FDA, EPA, and Free Trade Agreements
  • Strong analytical skills with a keen eye for detail, especially when auditing and reviewing documentation

ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Must be able to work extended hours and/or weekends when needed to meet business goals
  • This position is based in Bastrop, Texas, and requires being onsite - remote work is not considered
