Reporting to the VP, Global Legal Commercial, we are hiring a Senior Director to join the legal department in this fast growing, truly globally distributed company! This position is ideal for a self-sufficient and resourceful legal leader, and we will consider candidates located anywhere in the United States. This is a growth position in a fast-paced technology company covering SaaS, Licensing and Managed Services.

What You Will Be Doing:- As the lead business partner to the VP of Sales, Americas, and the VP of Sales, U.S. Public Sector, this dynamic role will lead a distributed team of attorneys and legal professionals responsible for all enterprise commercial engagements in the Americas and U.S. Public Sector. This role requires vision and strategic leadership, with an understanding of key roles and responsibilities to be able to rely on all the resources available, holding everyone accountable to the progress that we need to make together. As a business partner, the Senior Director must collaborate with other leaders to drive projects and improvements and find solutions to key challenges. These activities include:
- ensuring that internal controls and policies and procedures, and continuous improvements are made as needed to support the company in achieving its growth objectives.
- partnering with legal operations and other functions (legal, finance, sales, IT, sales operations) to ensure the success of the contracts management system;
- engaging closely with the wider global Legal Department, Elastic’s go-to-market, finance and compliance organizations.
- prioritizing key goals for the team and ensuring that work is allocated appropriately;
- providing regular guidance and training to the sales organization and others as needed on matters relating to the Americas and U.S. Public Sector legal commercial function;
- Demonstrated ability advising technology companies on legal strategy and execution and cross functional engagement, primarily in house (minimum 10+ years).
- Proven understanding of licensing, SaaS and Cloud sales contracting with commercial and U.S. Public Sector organizations and the laws and regulations relevant to negotiating such agreements, including state, local and federal government contracts compliance, FAR, DFARS, and agency regulations, and applicable state laws.
- Excellent judgment and the ability to balance legal risks with business strategy, including scaling quickly in a fast-paced environment.
- Ability to flexibly prioritize and handle ambiguity.
- Enthusiasm for cross-functional collaboration and partnership.
Compensation for this role is in the form of base salary. This role does not have a variable compensation component.
The typical starting salary range for new hires in this role is listed below. In select locations (including Seattle WA, Los Angeles CA, the San Francisco Bay Area CA, and the New York City Metro Area), an alternate range may apply as specified below.
These ranges represent the lowest to highest salary we reasonably and in good faith believe we would pay for this role at the time of this posting. We may ultimately pay more or less than the posted range, and the ranges may be modified in the future.
An employee's position within the salary range will be based on several factors including, but not limited to, relevant education, qualifications, certifications, experience, skills, geographic location, performance, and business or organizational needs.
