Databricks is a fundamentals company and we are looking for candidates who have demonstrated technical leadership. We are extremely customer-focused and, therefore, we are looking for leaders who have demonstrated strength in working with customers, partners, sales, and product management.  Finally, Databricks is the leading data platform provider and to stay ahead we must stay ahead of our users' growing needs to upload more data, from more locations, in less time.

The impact you will have:

As a Senior Manager on the Ingestion Services team you will manage the ingestion managed service including the hosted ingestion UI.  You will offer a reliable ingestion platform with both UI and API to ensure external applications that write directly to the Databricks Lakehouse.   You will lead efforts that simplify ingestion through simple fire and forget interfaces.  There are challenging problems on both the UI and service side. The UI needs to render  many different data formats and automate the setup of complex data sources with minimal user intervention.  On the service API side we expect Databricks to increase from a few large file uploads to thousands of small trickle uploads, and anything in between. You will reporting directly to the Director of Engineering.

What we look for:

  • 10+ years of industry experience
  • 4+ years of management experience
  • 3+ years of experience as an IC TechLead developing Software Infrastructure
  • 4+ years of experience being oncall for a production service
  • 2+ years of experience leading a UX team (directly or indirectly)
  • A bachelor's degree in Computer Science
  • Led complex technical efforts as an individual contributor before management.
  • Demonstrated experience releasing public-facing API-based services
  • Develop a roadmap in collaboration with Product Management
  • Hired-experienced senior technical leaders onto your team
  • Experience working in the data, infrastructure software space
