The Senior Manager of Executive Communications supports the CEO. The successful candidate will have the ability to craft executive communications, understand and articulate an executive’s vision and voice, and act as a trusted partner. They will help build key messages to be articulated internally and externally in communication plans, staff communications, presentations, speeches, town halls and other materials as needed.

This role reports to the Director of Executive, Internal and Financial Communications as part of the corporate marketing team.

Responsibilities

Key responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Translating and synthesizing executive’s vision and voice across organizational and industry topics. Partnering with the CEO to:
  • Communicate organizational strategy.
  • Craft messages related to Elastic’s mission, vision, values, priorities, and key initiatives across all channels.
  • Ensure that messages and materials reflect the executive’s voice.
  • Help draft internal and external communiques such as staff updates, quarterly business reports, op-eds, and blogs.
  • Tailor messages for various constituents including employees, customers, partners and communities.
  • Build compelling speeches, presentations, and digital assets in partnership with the creative team.
  • Help support responses to any PR issues and crises.
  • Work closely with the PR team to continually identify high-impact communications opportunities to enhance executive external presence and improve Elastic’s thought leadership.
Qualifications

Skills and Experience:

  • Outstanding written and verbal communication skills, with an ability to listen, provide feedback, and transform ideas into key messages and materials with clarity and conviction.
  • 8+ years planning, writing, editing, and producing communications such as newsletters, blog posts, presentations, speeches, and video scripts.
  • Experience in executive speech-writing is a plus.
  • Ability to encourage confidence among leaders and other partners.
  • Confidence and strong emotional intelligence.
  • Excellent organizational and interpersonal skills.
  • Proven track record of building positive relationships with all facets of the organization to develop and execute plans.
  • Willingness to travel approximately 15%.
  • Willingness to work in the San Francisco office as needed
Basic Qualifications:
  • BA in journalism, communications, political communications or a related field preferred.
  • 8+ years in a communications role, either in-house or agency.

Compensation for this role is in the form of base salary.  This role does not have a variable compensation component.  

The typical starting salary range for new hires in this role is listed below.  In select locations (including Seattle WA, Los Angeles CA, the San Francisco Bay Area CA, and the New York City Metro Area), an alternate range may apply as specified below. 

These ranges represent the lowest to highest salary we reasonably and in good faith believe we would pay for this role at the time of this posting.  We may ultimately pay more or less than the posted range, and the ranges may be modified in the future.  

An employee's position within the salary range will be based on several factors including, but not limited to, relevant education, qualifications, certifications, experience, skills, geographic location, performance, and business or organizational needs.

Elastic believes that employees should have the opportunity to share in the value that we create together for our shareholders. Therefore, in addition to cash compensation, this role is currently eligible to participate in Elastic's stock program.  Our total rewards package also includes a company-matched 401k with dollar-for-dollar matching up to 6% of eligible earnings, along with a range of other benefits offered with a holistic emphasis on employee well-being.
