SR. GLOBAL SUPPLY MANAGER, STARLINK ELECTRONICS

As a member of the Starlink supply chain team, you will support an elite group of engineers to source and activate custom tools critical to the production of the Starlink satellite constellation. Our team moves quickly and you must too. SpaceX has the unique ability and desire to influence and shape suppliers to be better with us as we challenge our supply chain on cost, quality, and speed of execution.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Develop and execute global supply agreements and sourcing strategy for electronics used in satellite and terrestrial systems; and related hardware products
  • Conduct comprehensive global supply agreements and supply base analysis to formulate a sourcing plan that includes strategic direction, technology roadmaps, price trends, market and industry position, and risk assessment
  • Create engagement strategy and framework for various logistic and inventory models, ODM, OEM, and JDM to meet business requirements
  • Manage purchase orders and follow through with the project milestones for on-time delivery and quality conformance
  • Survey supplier facilities and accurately assess technical capability, equipment, and capacity for rapid deployment in support of new product development, mass production, and product warranty and repair services
  • Manage costs aggressively to ensure adherence to project-specific budgets and forecasts. Ability to develop should-cost models for competitive cost analysis
  • Deliver best-in-class TCO (total cost ownership)
  • Negotiate global competitive sourcing programs and source alternative suppliers for all materials, components, and manufacturing services related to satellite-terrestrial systems including mitigation of sole/single source risk and ensuring continuity of supply
  • Collaboratively work with engineering and supply chain team on sourcing strategy, supplier roadmaps, market analysis, and conducting design and cost trade-off analysis review
  • Drive internal and external continuous process improvements to enhance efficiency and implement cost-saving programs with suppliers
  • Facilitate early involvement by preferred suppliers in the new product development process to ensure DFX input is incorporated into the development cycle
  • Ensure electronics manufacturers are prepared to support all prototype builds with appropriate equipment, material, and test plans for clean-to-build (CTB)
  • Work with supply chain planning team to translate demand forecast into a monthly master production plan schedule and 12 months rolling forecast
  • Administer moderate to large contracts and independently negotiate contract terminology, pricing, technical requirements, scope, and terms, including responsibility, liability, indemnification, intellectual property, warranty, and export compliance
  • Prepare, issue, and analyze RFx packages for one-time and ongoing project requirements
  • Communicate and prepare value propositions associated with proposals to SpaceX executives (i.e. award preparation, cost reviews, cost reduction strategies, and all critical supply issues)
  • Develop, foster, manage, and maintain strong supplier partnerships
  • Implement analytical data management tool to manage suppliers’ performance matrix
  • Ensure compliance with all company policies and procedures and government regulations

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Advanced degree and 9+ years of experience working in one or more of the following; OR Bachelor’s degree and 11+ years of experience working in one or more of the following; OR 15+ years of experience working in one or more of the following:
    • Engineering
    • Purchasing
    • Contract negotiation
    • Material or production planning
    • Operations or supply chain management
    • Material cost control
    • Master production scheduling
    • Capital equipment sourcing
  • 5+ years of prior direct leadership or experience leading/managing a team

PREFERRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Master’s degree or PhD
  • 5+ years of experience working on contracts or commodity spend worth at least $100 million
  • 10+ years of experience in supply chain, operations, engineering, or production
  • Technical procurement or planning experience with PCB, PCBA, or electrical components
  • Knowledge of wafer fab, testing and final assembly processes
  • Experience managing OSAT
  • Proven track record of taking ownership, successfully negotiating preferred pricing and driving results
  • Technical procurement, product development, NPI, manufacturing and negotiating high volume electronic, assemblies and warranty services
  • Logistics operations, VMI program management and export compliance experience
  • Exceptional analytical, problem solving, and organizational skills
  • Effective written, verbal and presentation communication skills
  • Ability to learn quickly and prioritize appropriately to meet customer and company needs
  • Detail-oriented, self-motivated and able to respond quickly to a fast-moving and ever-changing environment
  • Conduct all activities with the highest level of integrity

ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Able to travel for short and extended trips as needed
  • Must be able to work flexible and extended hours and on weekends as needed

COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS:

Pay range:           Sr. Global Supply Manager: $150,000.00 - $205,000.00/per year

Your actual level and base salary will be determined on a case-by-case basis and may vary based on the following considerations: job-related knowledge and skills, education, and experience.
