Lyft is looking for a senior manager to own issues management, trust and safety, and crisis communications. This means driving the process for rapid-response situations, while also leading proactive communications campaigns that build confidence in the communities that Lyft serves. You’ll also help to define our corporate narrative by telling compelling stories on how we’re helping riders get out and about so they can live their lives together, and providing drivers a way to work that gives them control over their time and money.. The successful candidate will be a resourceful self-starter, who is adept at quickly shifting gears in an ambiguous and extremely fast-paced environment. You will collaborate with our Safety and Customer Care, Product Marketing, Public Policy, and Legal teams across a range of topics. In this role you’ll also work alongside a team of communications professionals across our Corporate, Product, Consumer, Brand Communications and Social teams.

Responsibilities:
  • Serve as a company spokesperson on high stakes and high profile issues.
  • Develop and implement trust & safety-related proactive and reactive communications strategies.
  • Manage media relations on reactive issues across the United States and Canada, including drafting statements / responses and providing background information to help reporters understand Lyft’s policies, features, and positions on safety. 
  • Partner with the corporate, product and consumer communications teams to create pitches relating to advance Lyft’s overall narrative.
  • Provide strategic communication support to senior executives, including preparing talking points and other key communications to effectively represent the company in public forums.
  • Work in partnership with functions across the company - including operations, legal/compliance, insurance, product, and customer experience - to ensure stories are reported accurately. 
Experience:
  • 7+ years of communications experience. 
    • Experience working with technology products and services or crisis comms is helpful.
  • Strong experience developing constructive relationships with top tier and local reporters, editors and influencers. Not afraid to get on the phone and build relationships with reporters. 
  • Proven experience as a trusted communications advisor to business partners and leaders. 
  • Self-starter, independently motivated, leads oneself and influences others. Has experience working in competitive and dynamic industries. 
  • Experience shaping and improving difficult narratives.
  • Thrives in complex situations and fast-paced environments. Dives deep and asks questions.
  • Excellent written and verbal communications skills.

This role will be in-office on a hybrid schedule — Team Members will be expected to work in the office 3 days per week on Mondays, Thursdays and a team-specific third day. Additionally, hybrid roles have the flexibility to work from anywhere for up to 4 weeks per year. #Hybrid

The expected base pay range for this position in the San Francisco area is $128,000 - $160,000. Salary ranges are dependent on a variety of factors, including qualifications, experience and geographic location. Range is not inclusive of potential equity offering, bonus or benefits.
