SR. MANAGER, STRATEGIC SOURCING (STARLINK ELECTRONICS SUPPLY CHAIN)
At SpaceX we’re leveraging our experience in building rockets and spacecraft to deploy Starlink, the world’s most advanced broadband internet system. Starlink is the world’s largest satellite constellation and is providing fast, reliable internet to 4M+ users worldwide. We design, build, test, and operate all parts of the system – thousands of satellites, consumer receivers that allow users to connect within minutes of unboxing, and the software that brings it all together. We’ve only begun to scratch the surface of Starlink’s potential global impact and are looking for a best-in-class Supply Chain Leader to help maximize Starlink’s utility for communities and businesses around the globe.
The Starlink Supply Chain Department is a critical player in our operations to expand Starlink to hundreds of millions of users around the globe. To capitalize on our technical and market success, our team will execute large-scale projects that will define the bottom line for the company, and unlock unprecedented rates of Satellite hardware development out of our Redmond, WA HQ. Our Sr. Manager will oversee a team and, in parallel, work alongside a group of individuals focused on, but not limited to: procurement, planning and fulfillment, supplier development and quality, logistics, and inventory that continues to position Starlink as a global leader in internet and satellite technology.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Lead commodity strategy of electronic systems with focus on PCBs, PCBAs, EEE components, and interconnect suppliers
- Manage and develop a sourcing; including coaching and mentoring individual contributors and people leaders
- Evaluate, assess, develop, and manage the supply base to enable quick prototype deployment and introduction to scalable production for satellite integration
- Develop and manage purchase part inventory plans utilizing MRP
- Administer contracts; independently negotiate contracts including pricing, technical requirements, scope, and terms involving responsibility, liability, indemnification, and intellectual property
- Work collaboratively with internal teams on sourcing strategy, market analysis, trade-off analysis reviews, make v buy, and supplier roadmaps with engineers to support cost, quality, and delivery targets
- Partner with internal stakeholders on requests for information, request for proposal, and request for quotation
- Monitor and manage costs to ensure adherence to project-specific budgets and forecasts
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering, supply chain or business
- 7+ years of procurement or supplier management experience
- Experience in electro-mechanical systems procurement
PREFERRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:
- Knowledge of PCBA manufacturing and assembly processes, foreign and domestic supply base, capabilities, and PCBA level commodity experience
- Experience with electronic manufacturing services and contract manufacturers
- Technical procurement, new product introduction, manufacturing, or design / development experience
- Experience with drawings, bill of materials, and gerber files
- Experience with manufacturer product portfolio and EEE components
- Training and team building skills
- Exceptional analytical, problem solving, and organizational skills
- Knowledge and skills in current technologies and applications, i.e. MS Office Suite
- Effective written, verbal, and presentation communication skills
- Ability to learn quickly and prioritize appropriately to meet customer and company needs
- Must be detail-oriented, self-motivated and able to respond quickly to a fast-moving and ever-changing environment
- Conducts all activities with the highest of integrity
ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:
- Ability to travel both domestically and internationally to hit business benchmarks, 20-60% depending on product lifecycles
- Must be willing to work extended hours and weekends as needed
COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS:
Pay Range:
Strategic Sourcing/Sr. Manager: $160,000.00 - $205,000.00/per year
Your actual level and base salary will be determined on a case-by-case basis and may vary based on the following considerations: job-related knowledge and skills, education, and experience.
Base salary is just one part of your total rewards package at SpaceX.
