Sr. Program Manager, Business Continuity and Disaster Response

Chewy is seeking an Sr. Program Manager, Business Continuity and Disaster Response to support the Chewy Asset Protection team. This role will lead development of a business continuity program for the Chewy enterprise, supporting all business units, incorporate existing business continuity programs or plans, and develop a disaster response program. The successful candidate will be responsible for maintaining multiple programs, ensuring confidentiality, developing programs and mechanisms from idea to implementation, and have a detailed knowledge of business continuity, risk management, and disaster response. This role requires an experienced business continuity, risk manager, and/or disaster response professional with people leader skills, ability to work in a fast pace dynamic environment, interact with internal stakeholders, and proactively engage with regulatory agencies and Non-Governmental Organizations (NGOs).
What you'll do:
- Develop and own the Chewy Enterprise Business Continuity program and integrate current continuity plans that existing organizations may have.
- Develop and own Chewy’s Disaster Response and Preparedness program including natural and/or human-made disaster response.
- Develop a disaster preparedness program, guide, partner to set up logistics for supplies, set up network vendors for technical/remediation support, and partner to increase Chewy’s whole community approach.
- Partner with stakeholders (Finance, Operations, Legal, PR, etc…) to create holistic programs and policies around business continuity and disaster response.
- Manage multiple projects and programs simultaneously, providing regular updates to leadership, and draft proposals to senior leaders for new technology, programs, and preparedness measures.
- Develop and manage training cycles and programs for business continuity and disaster response activities.
- Develop a risk matrix, continually assessing risk, and create risk reduction actions increasing Chewy’s resilience.
- Integrate the business continuity and disaster response programs into existing and future programs such as the Emergency Operations Center (EOC), severe weather reporting, and risk intelligence.
What you'll need:
- Bachelor’s degree in related field (Emergency Management, EHS, Analytics and Risk Management, Crisis Management) or equivalent work experience or military service.
- Master’s degree in related field preferred.
- 8+ years of EHS, Emergency Management, Risk Management, or Business Continuity work experience.
- Experience with FEMA’s NIMS and hold certifications (ICS100, ICS200, ICS400, and IS700).
- Experience integrating business continuity programs and supporting disaster response operations including working with local government and NGOs.
- Medical certifications including First Aid CPR/AED, Emergency Medical Technician, or Tactical Casualty Combative Care.
- Certifications in quality management systems, business continuity, or disaster response.
- Ability to work with a team, partner with third-party VPs driving quality of professional service, and analyze data required.
- Ability to utilize technology and database to analyze threats, intelligence, local crime statics, and provide daily/weekly operations briefings.
- Ability to create programs, policies, and implement procedures for business continuity and disaster response.
- Ability to partner with learning teams to create trainings for required compliance.
- Strong communication skills, both oral and written, being able to communication across internal stakeholders and with executive leadership.
- Highly collaborative team player who can build strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders including third-party vendors.
- Capable of delivering high quality work and data driven initiatives on time with the ability to manage multiple different projects or programs simultaneously.
- Ability to be flexible, work through ambiguity, succeed in a fast-paced environment while having the foresight to build mechanisms and develop strategies. Willing to learn new skills and implement new technologies.
- Must be willing to travel up to 40%.
