Sr. Program Manager
Our Opportunity
Chewy is seeking a Program Manager, High Risk Operations (HRO) to support the Chewy Fulfillment Network. The Program Manager, HRO will be responsible for partnering with the Site Operations team, Engineering team and Continuous Improvement team to manage the Environmental, Health and Safety deliverables required in the FC network. They will have primary responsibility to provide direct strategic partnership to support our Maintenance and EHS team. This includes the strategy and execution for the EHS risk programs across all Chewy organizations. This role will be overseeing both RME field execution and high-risk program management in areas such as Hazardous Energy Control, Electrical Safety, Fall Hazard Control, Confined Spaces, Hot Work, Fire Life Safety, Hosting & Rigging, etc.
What you'll do:
- Develop deep working strategic partnerships with execution teams based in Maintenance, EHS, Procurement, Engineering, Risk, Asset Protection, and Legal.
- Provide Maintenance leadership with critical risk decision making to ensure the life safety of Technicians, contractors and Chewy Team Members.
- Be accountable for the field execution of high-risk programs such as Hazardous Energy Control, Electrical Safety, Fall Hazard Control, Confined Spaces, Hot Work, Fire Life Safety, Hosting & Rigging, etc.
- Drive improvements in Maintenance safety metrics to ensure leaders both at the site level and network level have better visibility to drive improvements.
- Continue to make safety personal and drive ownership of safety through the Maintenance organization by establishing better engagement programs.
- Deliver new Maintenance safety training programs to the network including Qualified Electrical Evaluator (QEE)/Qualified Electrical Worker (QEW), authorized fall hazard, and improvement lockout/electrical safety programs.
- Incorporate instructor led safety training into new Maintenance safety training centers including fall towers, electrical/lockout hands on experiences.
- Ensure the continuous improvement of core Maintenance safety programs including Technician Safety Concerns, Safety Alerts, regulatory auditing, and Technician Safety Week.
- Support the EHS Audit team in audit expectations and procedure clarifications related to HRO Safety programs.
- Develop and deploy a pre-task safety plan and permit to work process
- Stay attuned to changing regulations and internal EHS performance to change policies when required.
What you'll need:
- Bachelor's degree in Occupational Health and Safety or equivalent
- Minimum of 10+ years in an Environmental Health & Safety (EHS) and Engineering related field
- Experience implementing lean principles and process improvement in an operational environment. Lean Six Sigma, Green Belt preferred
- Knowledge of OSHA regulations specifically 29 CFR 1910
- Knowledge of Local, State and Federal regulatory agencies and requirements
- Knowledge of ANSI, ISO, and other consensus standards as they apply to engineering and risk
- Ability to understand technical drawings and specifications
- Comprehension and practical application of risk assessments
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office
- Ability to understand data tables, metrics, and trending to identify causation and determine corrective actions
- Strong communication, teamwork, analysis, judgment and customer focus skills
- Ability to analyze incident reports, new processes, and machinery for potential safety concerns and conduct job hazard and job safety analysis
- Ability to work effectively and efficiently under pressure while managing competing demands and tight deadlines
- Experience leading change in multiple site environments
- Must be willing to travel up to 50%
Bonus:
- Masters degree in Occupational Health and Safety or equivalent, preferred
- Certifications - Certified Safety Professional (CSP) and/or Associate Safety Professional (ASP) preferred
- Licensed Machine Safety Specialist (LMSS) preferred
- Six Sigma Black Belt or Green Belt certified
- Strong analytical skills with demonstrated problem solving ability.
- Ability to adapt well to fast-paced environments with changing circumstances, direction, and strategy.
