SR. PROGRAM RELIABILITY ENGINEER

As a Program Reliability Engineer, you will be responsible for critical hardware flight worthiness evaluation activities associated with current and future government customer spacecraft missions. You’ll work directly with the primary mission manager and engineering teams to ensure all customer requirements and concerns are met and addressed for launch.

In this role you will directly support the execution of flight worthiness assessments through all phases of launch vehicle build. You’ll be an advocate for our customer by acting as the point of contact to implement customer feedback and lessons learned to improve flight worthiness review execution and customer satisfaction.

In this position you will also represent the SpaceX Quality and Build Reliability org to our government customers and be responsible for assuring successful execution on our contractual deliverables for flight worthiness assessments on all Falcon and Starship government missions. As the rate of government missions increases, the team's primary goal is to achieve maximum flight reliability confidence with minimum impact to the engineering community by implementing and executing plans to minimize review scope and increase confidence in SpaceX systems and processes.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Identify and develop process improvements to streamline and standardize flight worthiness assessments
  • Develop tools and methodologies to support multiple flightworthiness assessments while minimizing disruption to the engineering community
  • Serve as primary point of contact for planning and execution of flight worthiness assessments of government missions while working with multidisciplinary teams to answer technical questions and respond to information requests
  • Be the subject matter expert and primary point of contact for reliability and navigation related customer questions
  • Create technical content for the introductory briefs and TIM’s in support of the flight worthiness assessments
  • Collaborate with government partners to drive change where necessary to improve efficiency of the execution of flight worthiness assessments
  • Drive customer questions to closure and track program performance metrics.
  • Plan, schedule, and staff customer factory tours for the process areas applicable to the hardware being reviewed

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor’s degree in an engineering discipline or physics
  • 5+ years of professional experience managing technical projects 

PREFERRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Hands-on professional experience with launch vehicle processing
  • Highly detail oriented, diligent, and hard working with excellent customer interface skills
  • Proven ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams to resolve complex issues under tight deadlines
  • Experience programming with SQL and/or Python
  • Experience working with external customers

ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Must be willing to travel to other SpaceX offices, vendors, and customers as necessary (up to 25% travel)
  • Must be willing to work long hours and occasional weekends when necessary to support launch and critical project timelines
  • Ability to pass Air Force background checks for Cape Canaveral and Vandenberg

COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS: 

Pay range:         

Program Reliability Engineer/Senior: $125,000.00 - $175,000.00/per year           

Your actual level and base salary will be determined on a case-by-case basis and may vary based on the following considerations: job-related knowledge and skills, education, and experience.
