We’re looking for a Senior Software Development Engineer in Test (SDET) to play a crucial role in shaping the future of quality engineering for our rapidly-growing global platform. As a Sr. SDET, you’ll be a technical leader, driving architectural guidance, quality tooling modernization, and automated test strategies that empower teams to deliver delightful, reliable experiences to hundreds of millions of pinners worldwide.

What you’ll do:

  • Architect, design, and implement robust, scalable, and maintainable automation frameworks and tooling that power reliable testing across diverse Pinterest surfaces (web, mobile, API, backend, and ML/AI pipelines).
  • Drive cross-functional quality initiatives and set standards for testability, automation, and engineering excellence—partnering with product, engineering, and platform teams to institutionalize best practices and champion a “quality as code” mindset.
  • Modernize test platforms and quality infrastructure, leading investments in next-generation CI/CD, test automation, flakiness reduction, and developer productivity.
  • Proactively identify gaps in quality posture, leading cross-team projects to close those gaps and improve shipping velocity without compromising reliability.
  • Mentor and educate engineers in advanced automation concepts, test architecture decisions, and clean code/testing principles—raising the quality bar for all.
  • Lead efforts in test strategy, planning, and execution for high-impact, cross-team projects, balancing company-level priorities and ensuring solutions are scalable.
  • Influence and drive adoption of metrics and dashboards for engineering quality, test health, and release readiness to inform decision making and accelerate continuous improvement.

What we’re looking for:

  • Demonstrated success in architecting and scaling test automation and quality platforms in complex engineering environments.
  • Expertise in modern automation frameworks and programming languages such as Python, Java, JavaScript or similar.
  • Deep familiarity with one or more test frameworks (Cypress, Espresso, XCUITest, REST API testing, etc.) and CI/CD automation tooling.
  • Passion for engineering excellence, developer productivity, and building reusable technology solutions that accelerate high-quality product delivery.
  • Experience leading multi-team, cross-functional quality initiatives and influencing quality bar and best practices across an organization.
  • Strong collaboration and communication skills, with a track record of mentoring peers and driving cultural change towards “quality first” at scale.
  • Ability to analyze, design, and champion large-scale solutions and process improvements, evaluating risk, scope, and technical constraints across multiple teams.
  • “Growth mindset” and ability to keep up to date with industry trends, new tools, frameworks, and methodologies in quality engineering and automation.
  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field—or equivalent practical experience.
