This role can be remote. 

As a Sr. Specialist Solutions Engineer (Sr. SSE) - Machine Learning, you will guide customers in building big data solutions on Databricks that span a large variety of machine learning use cases. You will be in a customer-facing role, working with and supporting Solution Architects, that requires hands-on production experience with MLFlow™ and expertise in other MLOps technologies. Sr. SSEs help customers through design and successful implementation of essential workloads while aligning their technical roadmap for expanding the usage of the Databricks Lakehouse Platform. As a deep go-to-expert reporting to the Specialist Field Engineering Manager, you will continue to strengthen your technical skills through mentorship, learning, and internal training programs and establish yourself in an area of specialty - whether that be machine learning, MLOps, industry expertise, or more.

The impact you will have:

  • Lead delivery of technical solutions in moderate-sized customer implementations of the Databricks Lakehouse platform
  • Provide customers technical insight to ML product roadmap while delivering on near-term technical requirements
  • Support customer migration, upgrade, and deployment projects by reviewing designs and identifying optimization opportunities
  • Take a leading role in developing proof of concepts under guidance of senior engineers
  • Demonstrate expertise in Databricks Machine Learning and MLOps technologies through certifications, conference talks, thought leadership content, or leading training sessions

What we look for:

  • 3+ years experience in a technical role with expertise in at least one of the following:
    • Data Scientist/ML Engineer: model selection, model lifecycle, model scaling, AutoML, hyperparameter tuning, model serving, model monitoring, deep learning
    • MLOps Engineer: Build and maintain cloud infrastructure that supports the deployment of ML models and algorithms, monitors data drift, integration with production systems
  • Python coder with ML expertise, model assessment
  • Experience in applying Data Science / ML in production to build data-driven products for solving business problems
  • Understand ML concepts including Model Tracking, Model Serving and other aspects of productionizing ML pipelines in distributed data processing environments like Apache Spark, using tools like MLflow
  • Basic proficiency with Big Data technologies (e.g. Spark, Hadoop, Kafka) and architectures
  • Tech-savvy problem solver with strong communication skills
  • Can meet expectations for technical training and role-specific outcomes within 6 months of hire
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, or equivalent experience through work experience
  • Ability to travel up to 30% when needed

Pay Range Transparency

The pay range(s) for this role is listed below and represents base salary range for non-commissionable roles or on-target earnings for commissionable roles.  Actual compensation packages are based on several factors that are unique to each candidate, including but not limited to job-related skills, depth of experience, relevant certifications and training, and specific work location. Based on the factors above, Databricks utilizes the full width of the range. The total compensation package for this position may also include eligibility for annual performance bonus, equity, and the benefits listed above.
