We’re looking for a collaborative and results-oriented Senior Tax Analyst to join our Tax team of six and focus on federal and state taxes in the Americas and APJ region. You will play a critical part of evaluating and streamlining processes in an increasingly complex global organization and help drive tax provision and compliance excellence.

You thrive in the details, adapt quickly to a changing environment, take a global view, and are data driven. This is a hands-on role which involves gathering relevant information, managing workflows to ensure timely completion of the returns, and ensuring accurate reporting of information. You are both strategic and hands-on and would report to the Tax Manager, Americas and APJ.

What You Will Be Doing:
  • Assist with preparation of Elastic’s global quarterly and annual tax provision, including the current tax provision, deferred tax substantiations, effective tax rate calculations, supporting workpapers, and tax footnote disclosures.
  • Oversee and manage external service providers to ensure timely and accurate preparation of federal and state R&D credit studies, tax returns, and transfer pricing compliance
  • Research tax technical issues – corporate tax focused but also assist with other taxes
  • Support various tax projects such as acquisitions, restructurings, tax planning, and legal entity assessment
  • Coordinate and manage compliance audits and respond to notices and inquiries from tax authorities
  • Prepare monthly and quarterly account reconciliations
  • Ensure compliance with SOX controls and reporting as a public company
  • Collaborate on streamlining and automating tax provision and compliance areas.
  • Build collaborative relationships across the organization.

  • And some of the basics:
  • Bachelor's Degree in Accountancy
  • CPA and/or MS in Tax strongly preferred
  • 3+ years of progressive, relevant experience across both industry and large accounting firm working with global companies
  • Tax provision experience
  • Strategic, critical thinker who isn’t afraid to get into the weeds; real passion for problem solving
  • Ability to build effective work relationships at all levels of the organization, influence behavior, and lead change
  • Excellent written and verbal communication and presentation skills
  • Strong analytical and leadership skills combined with interest and experience in process improvement, automation, and efficiency
  • Experience with NetSuite or Alteryx is a plus
  • A sense of humor and ability to roll with the punches definitely a plus

Compensation for this role is in the form of base salary.  This role does not have a variable compensation component.  

The typical starting salary range for new hires in this role is listed below.  In select locations (including Seattle WA, Los Angeles CA, the San Francisco Bay Area CA, and the New York City Metro Area), an alternate range may apply as specified below. 

These ranges represent the lowest to highest salary we reasonably and in good faith believe we would pay for this role at the time of this posting.  We may ultimately pay more or less than the posted range, and the ranges may be modified in the future.  

An employee's position within the salary range will be based on several factors including, but not limited to, relevant education, qualifications, certifications, experience, skills, geographic location, performance, and business or organizational needs.

Elastic believes that employees should have the opportunity to share in the value that we create together for our shareholders. Therefore, in addition to cash compensation, this role is currently eligible to participate in Elastic's stock program.  Our total rewards package also includes a company-matched 401k with dollar-for-dollar matching up to 6% of eligible earnings, along with a range of other benefits offered with a holistic emphasis on employee well-being.
