Working in the tech team at Doctolib involves building innovative products and features to improve the daily lives of care teams and patients. We work in feature teams in an agile environment, while collaborating with product, design, and business teams.
What you’ll do
We are looking for a Database Reliability Engineer to join our Database Optimization team and play a critical role in preserving the performance of our databases. You will be at the forefront of maintaining the health and performance of our database.
Your responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Build and support strategies to help the modularization of our main PostgreSQL database into a distributed and scalable ecosystem of smaller databases
- Monitor query performance, review data models and data access patterns, while offering insights and recommendations to feature teams for optimization and guidance in selecting appropriate data stores for their use cases
- Perform maintenance related tasks on our managed databases to enhance stability and improve performance
- Develop and evangelize database best practices
- Create documentation and training materials to empower feature teams to make informed decisions regarding data storage and access
- Implement robust monitoring and alerting systems to proactively identify performance bottlenecks, latency issues, and potential system failures at the database level

- Have 8+ years of experience as a Database Administrator or Engineer with a focus on reliability and scalability
- Have strong problem-solving skills, especially in identifying and rectifying database performance bottleneck
- Have excellent communication skills, enabling efficient transmission of knowledge.
- Have experience in mentoring junior engineers on database performance challenges (queries optimization and best practices)
- Are eager to leverage your experience and skills to make your team and the whole Tech team grow
- Business fluent in English
An added bonus if you have:
- Have been involved in Architecture choices for high traffic web applications, particularly scalability challenges on large databases
- Have experience with cloud-based environments and databases such as AWS Aurora PostgreSQL
- Have experience with NoSQL databases such as MongoDB
- Have experience with Change Data Capture ecosystems & technologies such as Kafka and Debezium
