Tracing Team:

Distributed Tracing team is responsible for building and maintaining scalable, cost-efficient and highly available backend services, which provides cloud-native transactional intelligence for distributed business workflows. It fosters responding to production incidents, reducing downtime and investigating performance issues by streamlining root cause analysis.

What you will do:

  • Take a crucial role in shaping our new Logs2Traces initiative, which will be built on top of Sumo Logic Logs platform, processing petabytes of data.
  • Take a crucial role innovating (both technologically and functionally) around petabyte-scale datasets.
  • Maintain and evolve existing Tracing platform according to business needs.
  • Make sure the platform meets our global availability SLO’s, operates with high tolerance for errors and can scale up as needed.
  • Follow test driven development.
  • Write robust & re-usable code.
  • Own a small set of micro services, analyze and improve the efficiency, scalability, reliability and cost for the same.
  • Help the team to respond quickly and effectively to business needs.
  • Participate in an on-call rotation for owned services, responding to service degradations in a timely manner.
  • You can work fully remotely, with occasional team meetups, or from the office in Warsaw - the choice is yours.

What you will have:

  • BSc or MSc in Computer Science or a related discipline.
  • 8+ years of industry experience with a proven track record of ownership.
  • Object-oriented experience, for example in Java, Scala, Ruby, or C++.
  • Understanding the performance characteristics of commonly used data structures (maps, lists, trees, etc).
  • Desire to work in Scala.
  • Experience in big data / 24x7 commercial service / planet scale product development.
  • Experience in agile software development (test-driven development, iterative and incremental development).
  • (Nice-to-have) Experience using Sumo Logic products or other observability products for reliability and security.  
  • (Nice-to-have) Experience in multi-threaded programming and distributed systems (desirable).
