Staff Security Communications Analyst

With the ever-increasing pace of cloud application adoption, companies are struggling to find ways to accurately assess risk and act at the speed of their business. The Okta Security team’s mission is to strengthen Okta’s position as the leading Digital Identity service through identifying and resolving risks to Okta’s employees, products, and most importantly, customers. 

The Customer Trust team is the voice of Okta Security both externally and internally. It's our role to influence how the Okta security brand is perceived and to shape the security culture of the company. Within Customer Trust is the Security Communications team which exists to operationalize Okta's mission statement of, “Always Secure. Always On.”

The Staff Security Communications Analyst is a key member of the Security Communications team, reporting to the Senior Manager of Security Communications. This role is directly responsible for: 

  • Creation of materials that articulate our security practices across multiple verticals and geographies, with an emphasis on new and emerging threat intel
  • Net new creation and edits of external security communications, including blogs, whitepapers, and FAQs around security incidents and vulnerability disclosures
  • Working across multiple teams including Security, Customer Service, Global Comms, Sales, Media Relations, Legal, Marketing, Customer Success and others to execute upon a defined security communication strategy
  • Creation and contributing to qualitative metrics on security communications, reporting on program effectiveness and iterating where needed 
  • Collaborating with internal and external partners to ensure messaging is consistent with brand strategy and vision.

This position requires a dedicated and innovative team player, with strong collaboration and communications skills, demonstrated experience covering cybersecurity technical writing, media and public relations. Please note that Okta operates globally on a “follow the sun” model. This allows for employees to work remotely, but also requires an “all hands on deck” mentality when security issues call for a heightened operational tempo.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience
  • 5+ years of experience with IT, information security or a related discipline
  • Experience in SaaS industry highly regarded
  • Location is remote, North American - Eastern preferred

Below is the annual salary range for candidates located in Canada. Your actual salary will depend on factors such as your skills, qualifications, and experience. In addition, Okta offers equity (where applicable), bonus, and benefits, including health, dental, and vision insurance, RRSP with a match, healthcare spending, telemedicine, and paid leave (including PTO and parental leave) in accordance with our applicable plans and policies. The annual base salary range for this position for candidates located in Canada is between:$114,000—$172,000 CAD
