How you can help make a better world of work

Note: This role can be based anywhere in Australia

We’re seeking a Staff Site Reliability Engineer with solid production experience in Google Cloud (GCP).

While primarily an AWS shop, our GCP presence is growing to take advantage of Google’s AI platform [1], and we’re looking for someone to take charge of our efforts in this space. The position will primarily focus on organisational design, governance, reliable architecture patterns, and empowering teams to accelerate Vertex adoption.

You will be working in the SRE Foundations team, whose mission is: “establish and maintain infrastructure patterns that provide product engineering a straightforward and reliable foundation.”

SRE at Culture Amp is an inclusive, remote-friendly practice that embraces flexible work arrangements. You will be surrounded by talented engineers and have opportunities to both learn and teach.

As part of this team of amazing humans,

You will be responsible for:

  • Leading the way to build out a solid GCP organisation and policy structure built to modern security standards (SOC2, ISO27001), while minimising developer friction.
  • Building using solid IaC principles, emphasising automation and self-service for our developer teams.
  • Working with our talented security team on ensuring the environment meets modern security standards (SOC2, ISO27001)
  • Support mentoring engineers in this domain.

You have

  • Solid experience running production workloads and building out robust organisations on GCP, while having some knowledge (or willing to learn) AWS.
  • Experience with Infastructure-as-Code & GitOps patterns.
  • A strong command of at least one backend programming language, while comfortable learning TypeScript (as we use CDK and CDKTF heavily) and Golang (many SRE tools are written in it). Our developer teams also work in Ruby, Kotlin and Python, so being able to understand and debug those languages is a plus.
  • Understanding of cross-cloud communication and authentication patterns, e.g. Workload Identity Federation.
  • A passion for automation and eliminating toil.
  • A drive to learn and hone your engineering craft.

You are

  • Able to balance hands-on technical skills whilst empowering and coaching engineers in the team.
  • An effective communicator both within your team and with external stakeholders.
  • Commercially minded and pragmatic in your approach, balancing business needs with architectural constraints.
  • Aligned with our values here or visit https://www.cultureamp.com/company#values and be able to demonstrate them through your working practice.
  • Able to participate in an on call rotation.
