Who we are & why we’re hiring

Twilio powers real-time business communications and data solutions that help companies and developers worldwide build better applications and customer experiences.

Although we're headquartered in San Francisco, we have presence throughout South America, Europe, Asia and Australia. We're on a journey to becoming a globally anti-racist, anti-oppressive, anti-bias company that actively opposes racism and all forms of oppression and bias. At Twilio, we support diversity, equity & inclusion wherever we do business. We employ thousands of Twilions worldwide, and we're looking for more builders, creators, and visionaries to help fuel our growth momentum.

About the job

This position is needed to contribute as a front end developer for the Marketplace product by building features and implementing improvements within the Twilio Console.

Twilio Marketplace platform, also known as Add-Ons, allows external developers to create custom integrations to extend the functionality of the Twilio core platform and publish those as add-ons for Twilio customers to use at cost. Twilio’s Marketplace team is looking for a software engineer to help grow and mature the platform to scale with Twilio.

We seek a motivated, empathetic, customer-serving engineer and leader who wants to help Twilio fuel the future of communication. The person in this role will implement solutions for both internal Twilio product teams and external Twilio customers.

Responsibilities

In this role, you’ll:

  • Champion good engineering habits (development and testing techniques, security, tech debt balance, agile habits, mentorship) for front end development.
  • Work with other engineering teams and with members of the product organization to distill internal and external customer needs into requirements and tech specs.
Qualifications

Not all applicants will have skills that match a job description exactly. Twilio values diverse experiences in other industries, and we encourage everyone who meets the required qualifications to apply. While having “desired” qualifications make for a strong candidate, we encourage applicants with alternative experiences to also apply. If your career is just starting or hasn't followed a traditional path, don't let that stop you from considering Twilio. We are always looking for people who will bring something new to the table!

Required:

  • 5+ years of JavaScript experience, including concepts like asynchronous programming, functional programming, closures, types, and ES6.
  • 3+ years experience with the modern Web stack: notably React, Typescript, and Node.js. If you've worked with other frameworks (like Vue or Ember) that's a plus as well.
  • Experience consuming and designing mature REST APIs.
  • Positive attitude and aptitude to execute quickly and independently in a small team while mentoring others to do the same.
  • Experience implementing modern automated testing approaches.
  • Strong communication skills: in person, on paper, or in code. You can explain technical concepts to product managers, other engineers, and support.
  • Ability to influence and build effective working relationships with all levels of the organization.

Desired:

  • Experience with AWS, GCP or other public cloud providers.
Location

This role will be remote but is not eligible to be hired in San Francisco, CA, Oakland, CA, San Jose, CA, or the surrounding areas.
