About the job

This position is needed to help Twilio keep pace and innovate solutions with the evolving Compliance ecosystem and in products that allow Twilio to Know Your Customer (KYC).

 

Our team enables customers to send their communication in compliance for many countries and regulations. We power the customer’s journey through setting up their KYC information within the regulations and requirements of our partners in the ecosystem. We build products that would enable customers for a great onboarding experience with ease of use so that they can send the communication they need as soon as possible.

Responsibilities

In this role, you’ll:

  • Own multiple services powering the KYC onboarding experience of our customers
  • Own and drive the next generation of architecture vision that empowers expansions of Compliance programs globally
  • Design and develop elegant and scalable solutions across a wide variety of contexts, fronted with highly available and responsive APIs
  • Technical leader and a mentor to junior members of the team
  • Work in a distributed-first team and collaborating with a variety of engineer and non-engineer roles across multiple teams and business units

Required:

  • Strong fundamental knowledge of software development and best practices, especially with respect to web service implementation.
  • Deep understanding of external systems integration, with defensive and hardened approaches to mitigate downstream issues.
  • Exposure to architectural design patterns of high-scale systems (e.g. well-designed APIs, high volume data pipelines, efficient algorithms) and experience navigating and understanding large-scale software architectures.
  • Maintaining and operating always-on cloud services.
  • An unwillingness to settle for “good enough”, instead staying focused on longevity through well-tested code and continuous improvement.
  • Demonstrated commitment to seeking diverse viewpoints and acting with intention to create an inclusive team environment.
  • Working in a distributed-first team and collaborating with a variety of engineer and non-engineer roles.
  • A technical leader mentoring and providing leadership to engineering teams.

Desired:

  • 5+ years of Engineering experience, developing and maintaining high traffic services
  • Experience with JVM languages
  • Experience with AWS Cloud services, such as DynamoDB, S3, and Glue 
  • Experience with Kubernetes
  • Experience with Terraform Cloud
  • Experience with Temporal workflow orchestration

 

Location

This role will be remote in the US and Canada. This role is not eligible to be hired on the San Francisco Bay Area, San Jose, Oakland or any provinces outside of British Columnbia, Ontario or Alberta.

 

Travel

The estimated pay ranges for this role are as follows:

  • Based in Colorado, Texas, Maryland, Georgia, Florida, North Carolina, and other US states: $164,480 - $205,600..
  • Based in New York, New Jersey, Washington Pennsylvania, Connecticut  or California (outside of the San Francisco Bay area): $174,160 - $217,700.
  • This role may be eligible to participate in Twilio’s equity plan and corporate bonus plan. All roles are eligible for the following benefits: health care insurance, 401(k) retirement account, paid sick time, paid personal time off, paid parental leave.

The successful candidate’s starting salary will be determined based on permissible, non-discriminatory factors such as skills, experience, and geographic location within the state.
