This is a role with a significant impact. We are looking for an engineer with a passion for building and breaking things to solve security problems and build strong partnerships with other teams in Auth0 Engineering. You will build the foundational security tools, automation, and infrastructure that allows Okta to scale securely for years to come. The ideal candidate is excited about collaborating to solve problems that affect the entire ecosystem of services.

You will:

  • Design, develop, and operate new, highly scalable security services, tools, and automation for internal use.
  • Address cross-cutting security concerns such as caching, message-passing, rate-limiting, and vulnerability management.
  • Provide technical direction and guidance to engineers on your team and help shape a highly technical roadmap.
  • Build, manage, and support the integration of security assurance tools (SAST, DAST, SCA) as an integral part of the CI/CD pipeline.
  • Work with engineers across the organization to drive the prioritization and remediation plan for vulnerabilities.
  • Coach and mentor other engineers at all levels.
  • Discover and advocate for new technologies to accelerate improvements in the reliability, scalability, and security of the Okta CIC platform.
  • Carry complex, cross-team initiatives from end to end, including code reviews, design reviews, and ensuring operational robustness.
  • Participate in the team's on-call or support rotation.

You might be a good fit if you:

  • Have 7-10 years of software development experience, with a significant focus on security engineering or building secure-by-design systems.
  • Have experience leading complex technical initiatives from design to delivery.
  • A deep understanding of SQL and data pipelines
  • Proficiency in DBT, Airflow, and cloud data warehouses such as Snowflake, BigQuery, or Redshift
  • Understanding of modern Data Warehouse/Data Lake/Lakehouse architectures
  • Are proficient in modern programming languages such as Golang, Python, Typescript, or Node/JavaScript.
  • Have a good understanding of Web application security, including the identification and remediation of code and design flaws.
  • Have experience building security tooling and automation scripts.
  • Have experience with security tools (e.g., SCA, SAST, DAST, Burp Proxy) and CI/CD pipeline integration.
  • Have a passion for building systems that are highly reliable, maintainable, scalable, and secure.
  • Bring the right attitude to the team: ownership, accountability, attention to detail, and a customer focus.
  • Have excellent communication skills, with the ability to explain complex security issues and their impact to diverse audiences.
  • Are comfortable working on a fully-distributed team.

Extra Points:

  • Have a deep understanding of Kubernetes and containerization.
  • Have experience deploying solutions to cloud providers like AWS and/or Azure.
  • Basic understanding of API security best practices.
  • Strong background in Agile software development and understanding of core principles and practices (Scrum, Kanban, etc)

Below is the annual salary range for candidates located in Canada. Your actual salary will depend on factors such as your skills, qualifications, and experience. In addition, Okta offers equity (where applicable), bonus, and benefits, including health, dental, and vision insurance, RRSP with a match, healthcare spending, telemedicine, and paid leave (including PTO and parental leave) in accordance with our applicable plans and policies. The annual base salary range for this position for candidates located in Canada is between:$154,000—$230,000 CAD
