The Staff Technical Trainer at Databricks will report directly to the Director of Global Training Delivery. This role is integral to enhancing the technical skills and knowledge of the Databricks community, which includes internal teams, partners, and customers. The Staff Technical Trainer will be responsible for the design, development, and delivery of technical training programs, aligning with the organization's objectives and strategies. As a Staff Technical trainer you will create engaging and effective learning content catering to various learning styles and levels of technical expertise. This role involves facilitating both virtual and in-person training sessions and potentially traveling to different locations to conduct training. The trainer will also play a pivotal role in evaluating the effectiveness of training programs, providing feedback for improvement, and staying abreast with the latest Databricks products and industry trends to ensure the curriculum remains relevant.

Duties & Responsibilities: 

  • Design, develop, and deliver comprehensive technical training programs related to Databricks' products and services.
  • Collaborate with various teams and stakeholders to understand training needs and create tailored programs to meet those needs.
  • Evaluate the effectiveness of the training programs through feedback surveys, tests, and observation, and revise the curriculum as needed.
  • Keep up-to-date with Databricks' product developments and industry trends to ensure training material is current and relevant.
  • Provide guidance and support to learners during the training process and handle any queries or issues that arise.
  • Contribute to the development of self-paced online learning modules and other training resources.
  • Participate in strategic initiatives such as the development and execution of the company-wide learning and development strategy.
  • Oversee operational aspects like the day-to-day administration of training programs, including scheduling, coordinating resources, and managing participant enrollment.
  • Develop and deliver a specified number of training programs or modules within a given timeframe.
  • Create training resources, such as manuals, guides, and online tutorials.

Required Skills:

  • Deep understanding of Databricks' products and the ability to explain complex technical concepts in an easily understandable manner.
  • Experience with programming languages such as Python and, SQL, (PySpark, Scala, R, Java are a pre,).
  • Familiarity with Big Data technologies, such as Apache Spark, multi-node clusters, and related tools.
  • Understanding of cloud computing concepts and experience with cloud platforms like AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud Platform.
  • Knowledge of data engineering and data science concepts, including machine learning and artificial intelligence.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to engage and motivate learners.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work effectively with a diverse range of stakeholders.
  • A high degree of organization and attention to detail, with the ability to manage multiple tasks and projects simultaneously.
  • Problem-solving mindset, with the ability to think creatively and find effective solutions to challenges.
  • A passion for learning and development, with a commitment to staying up-to-date with industry trends and developments.
  • Proficiency with Databricks' platform and tools.
  • Experience with Learning Management Systems (LMS) and other training software.
  • Familiarity with office productivity tools, such as Microsoft Office Suite or Google Workspace.
  • Experience with virtual communication tools, such as Zoom, Microsoft Teams, or Google Meet.

Required Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or a related field, with a focus on Big Data, Machine Learning, or AI (preferred).
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in a related role, such as technical training or technical roles in data engineering, data science, or software development.
  • Databricks Associate Data Engineer certification is preferred but not required.
  • Deep knowledge in areas of big data, cloud computing, data engineering, and data science, including machine learning and artificial intelligence, is essential.

Pay Range Transparency

Databricks is committed to fair and equitable compensation practices. The pay range(s) for this role is listed below and represents base salary range for non-commissionable roles or on-target earnings for commissionable roles.  Actual compensation packages are based on several factors that are unique to each candidate, including but not limited to job-related skills, depth of experience, relevant certifications and training, and specific work location. Based on the factors above, Databricks utilizes the full width of the range. The total compensation package for this position may also include eligibility for annual performance bonus, equity, and the benefits listed above.
