The Staff Zuora Systems Engineer possesses both business and technical acumen at an advanced level. This leadership role provides architectural guidance for our billing and revenue recognition systems, designing scalable solutions, leading complex implementations, developing integration strategies, and ensuring alignment with business objectives and regulatory requirements.

To effectively support our business stakeholders, candidates for this role must be proactive, detail oriented, highly technical, analytical, service focused and possess the ability to execute the following skills:

Responsibilities:
  • Techno-Functional professional with 7+ years of experience in Zuora Billing and Zuora Revenue implementations and a senior team member with full cycle implementations
  • A minimum of 7-10 years of experience implementing subscription billing solutions, particularly Zuora Billing, Zuora Revenue, and integrations with Salesforce and Oracle Fusion Cloud ERP
  • Demonstrated experience leading the architectural design for billing and revenue recognition systems, ensuring compliance with ASC 606 and GAAP standards
  • As a Billing Systems Architect, responsible for defining the systems strategy, capturing and analyzing business requirements, and translating them into Zuora solution architecture that aligns with organizational objectives
  • Expert knowledge in Billing models, Revenue Recognition principles, and ASC 606 compliance
  • Extensive experience with Zuora APIs and workflows, leveraging deep technical expertise to design, optimize, and troubleshoot billing and revenue management integrations
  • Skilled in orchestrating complex API-based solutions, ensuring seamless system interactions and efficient workflow automation
  • Lead fit-gap analysis, as-is and to-be business process designs, functional configuration, testing, and user training
  • Experience facilitating the integration of billing solutions to enhance revenue recognition processes
  • Should be able to design custom solutions using Zuora best practices for subscription management and revenue recognition
  • Should be able to lead design, development, and different testing activities across teams
  • Must have experience collaborating with business users on business process enhancements and strategic initiatives
  • Strong oral and written communication skills, including presentation skills to executive stakeholders
  • Advanced problem solving and troubleshooting skills with the ability to exercise mature judgment
  • Maintain and document current and new system requirements for complex implementations
  • Perform advanced system administration tasks, including security design and role-based access policies
  • Work with product, engineering and operational business stakeholders to understand and prioritize business systems needs
  • Design architectural solutions that enhance resilience and promote business continuity
  • Manage the deployment of new software, version upgrades, patch releases and major incidents
  • Lead development, Test, Release and Production environment strategies
  • Identify actionable, value-added optimization opportunities and contribute to the continuous improvement of our applications and processes
  • Uphold strict and consistent standards of process documentation and knowledge transfer
  • Manage stakeholder requirements and develop detailed implementation plans for enterprise-level initiatives
  • Carry out regular stakeholder meetings and effective communication sessions with all levels of the organization
  • Carry out technical system audits to ensure compliance with appropriate standards
  • Lead agile methodology practices in the development and configuration processes
Experience:
  • 7+ years work experience with Zuora Billing and Zuora Revenue implementation and configuration
  • Deep understanding of subscription billing models, revenue recognition principles, and ASC 606 compliance
  • Extensive experience integrating Zuora with Salesforce and Oracle Fusion Cloud ERP
  • Advanced knowledge of Zuora APIs and workflows for designing complex system integrations
  • Strong understanding of the software development lifecycle and familiarity with development and support activities
  • Experience leading technical teams and mentoring junior staff
  • Experience of developing strategic plans and advanced project management techniques
  • Proven ability to translate complex business problems into scalable architectural solutions
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to articulate technical concepts to business executives
  • Experience transforming data & automating processes using scripting languages
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or related field required; Master's preferred
  • Preferred Qualifications:
    • Zuora Billing Solutions Architect certification
    • Zuora Revenue Solutions Architect certification
    • Experience with ADW, Snowflake or other data warehouse technologies
    • Experience with CI/CD methodologies for financial systems
    • Prior experience at a SaaS company or subscription-based business

Salary ranges are dependent on a variety of factors, including qualifications, experience and geographic location. Range is not inclusive of potential equity offering, bonus or benefits.
