We're the home for the strategic direction of the business, partnering with the Commercial Leadership Team to define the Retail strategy and works cross-functionally to embed an entrepreneurial, agile, planning approach across the business. We lead some of our largest and most complex change programmes. We also work alongside Corporate Finance to influence some of the most pivotal questions around future valuation and longer-term financial planning for OVO Group, delivering discrete initiatives and special projects to support this strategic direction.

 

This role in a nutshell:

You'll work directly with members of the Commercial Leadership Team and their teams to craft and deliver our strategy, drive critical priorities and business activity. You will design, lead, and optimise key forums and engagements that shape the Commercial function’s strategic direction, while leading on high-impact projects and initiatives that align with long-term business objectives and act as a thought partner and critical friend.

Working as part of the Commercial team, you'll work closely with the Commercial Growth, ZCL and Franchise teams to optimise and align across strategy, priorities, business plans and associated budgets.

 

Your key outcomes will be:

  • Be a consultant and partner to member(s) of the CLT, building strong working relationships with their teams and with people across the business.
  • Deep-dive into specific areas of the organisation, building key relationships to become a critical friend and thought partner.
  • Support the definition and management of appropriate governance within dedicated areas, ensuring alignment to broader retail governance.
  • Cross-functional Engagement Proactively engage with teams across Operations, Technology, CABAM and Central Functions to foster a collaborative and supportive environment, promoting a balance of challenge support and alignment with the Commercial team.
  • Performance Monitoring & SupportAttend weekly performance calls, gather relevant data and insights, and provide key support to the CCO by tracking priority topics and ensuring actions are taken where necessary. This includes tracking the value of strategic initiatives and making sure these land for the team. 
  • Strategic Planning & Project Delivery Lead the mid-year and annual planning processes, ensuring high-quality plans are developed, well-communicated, and fully integrated across functions. Coordinate cross-functional engagement sessions as needed.Assisting the CCO and Commercial team with in-depth strategic discussions and ongoing key topics, typically managing 2-3 projects at any time.
  • Develop business strategy - work within specific areas of the business and with the wider partnering & planning team to develop and iterate strategic documents and artefacts (including CLT and Board materials). This typically involves designing compelling presentations for company-wide meetings and speaking engagements
  • Collaborate cross functionally across the organisation, partnering with the planning function and finance partners to ensure strategies are aligned to Financial outlooks, and dependencies are detailed.
  • Board & Executive ReportingProactively prepare and present materials for Board meetings, collaborating with the central Strategy team as needed to ensure high-quality outputs.
  • Work closely with the RLT on critical issues facing OVO, often assembling and leading cross functional teams to tackle problems and respond to issues.
  • Supporting the leadership team and making it as high functioning as possible, including goal setting and with the support of Executive Assistant running key ceremonies including weekly and quarterly meetings

 

You’ll be a successful Strategic Partner here at OVO if you…

  • Have previous experience at a top tier strategy consulting firm or in a high paced hyper-growth environment
  • Are a strategic thinker with strong analytical skills, excellent communication, and project management capabilities. You should have experience in cross-functional stakeholder engagement and demonstrate a proactive approach to relationship building.
  • Demonstrate specific industry expertise and passionate about the zero carbon living space
  • Thrive in ambiguity, ask incisive questions and take a structured approach to problem-solving
  • Are an expert problem solver who focuses on the highest impact areas using data to make decisions, and can succinctly communicate across the business
  • Have strong project management experience and proven track record of delivery, comfortable with wider organisational change and leading in an agile environment
  • Have the level of impact required to drive business decisions and influence at Executive level in the business - executive level messaging is a strength with excellent communication skills – both written and verbal
  • Enjoy team dynamics and are great relationship builder with strong interpersonal skills

We’ll pay you between £65,000 and £80,000, depending on your specific skills and experience. If your expectations are a little different, have a chat with us!
