Your Impact:
The components we source from all over the world are important to the success of our products and company. We must carefully balance our needs to lower costs while ensuring high-performance, reliability, and abundant supply. You’ll work with our suppliers face-to-face to expand the capabilities of Formlabs and directly improve our products. If a passion for streamlining and optimization inspires you, we want you as a Supplier Industrialization Engineer - Core Technologies!
What You’ll Do:
- Be the Core Technologies Advisor & Supply Chain Owner: Serve as the primary technical, commercial, and strategic partner to R&D for semi-standard to highly specialized commodities (such as lasers, LCDs, films, and linear motion components).
- Drive Long-Term Strategic Sourcing & Roadmap Alignment: Proactively scout, evaluate, and establish relationships with new global suppliers. Pitch the Formlabs vision effectively to secure long-term alignment and capability development that matches our product roadmaps.
- Bridge Engineering and Production: Deeply analyze complex technical requirements, acting as a translator and bridge between R&D design ambitions and the real-world boundaries of manufacturing capabilities or commercial limitations. Unlock new solutions by working closely with our partners to bring new products to life.
- Proactive Supply Chain Architecture: Design robust, scalable supply ecosystems. Focus on mitigating long-term systemic risks by anticipating capacity constraints and commercial dynamics. Conduct regular business reviews to drive improvement in supplier performance.

- NPI Supplier Readiness: Partner with R&D early in the product lifecycle to manage supplier manufacturing process development, qualification, and launch readiness for new products and complex design changes.
- Champion Early-Stage Sourcing: Collaborate with Manufacturing Engineering and R&D early in the hardware lifecycle to influence design for sourcing, optimizing reliability, manufacturability, and cost before production ramp.
About You:
- Educational Foundation: Degree in Mechanical, Industrial, Manufacturing, Electrical Engineering.
- Technical Background: Highly preferred to have 1-2 years of experience working directly in a hands-on engineering capacity, ensuring you possess the technical depth to confidently collaborate with, challenge, and advise R&D engineers. Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and GD&T, quality plans, and drive technical improvements.
- Sourcing Experience: Preferred 2-5 years of post-graduate experience across global supply management, strategic sourcing, or manufacturing.
- Broad Commodity Dexterity: Hold a versatile, highly adaptable understanding across varied hardware commodities.
- Autonomy and Organization: A naturally proactive self-starter who thinks systemically, works independently, and navigates complex cross-functional challenges with clarity. - Communication and Attention to Detail: Excellent presentation, written, and verbal communication skills. High attention to detail and skilled in data analysis. Proven ability to manage executive-level supplier relationships while also being willing to "get your hands dirty" on the factory floor to solve technical problems.
