Your role and your team:
We are looking for an ambitious and experienced Manufacturing Engineer, working closely with our suppliers as well as various internal stakeholders. Your goal is to ensure that the battery pack components that we have designed can be manufactured efficiently and in quality by our suppliers. You will be part of a crossfunctional supplier team, reporting to the Head of Supply Chain Energy.
Your Day to Day:
- You will derisk the production of newly developed components by- understanding the possible productions processes- matching them against our suppliers’ capabilities- identifying manufacturing risks and capability gaps- working with internal designers and suppliers to improve component design, reduce manufacturing risks and close capability gaps
- You steer tooling availability, equipment readiness and process qualification at suppliers to enable the initial production of new components on time.
- You will identify bottlenecks and work with the supply chain manager to understand and optimize supplier production capacity.
- You will work with the supplier to decide on technical solutions to gradually automatize the production and help ramp up high volume automated production lines.
- You will understand the inhouse assembly process of the battery pack and translate those needs into manufacturing requirements for our suppliers
Your Profile:
Required:
- You speak fluent English
- You have 5+ years of experience in a manufacturing engineering role
- You have experience in metallic manufacturing processes (forming, joining, separating, coating, …)
- You understand technical drawings and tolerance chains
- You have a can-do mindset, an ability to understand and analyse a problem and come up with solutions
- You have a willingness to take risks in decision making
- You have a good communications maturity, with an ability to build trust and consensus and secure commitment from team members
- You have willingness to regularly travel across Europe as well as on occasions worldwide for supplier visits
Desired:
- You speak fluent German
- You have a Degree in Mechanical Engineering or similar
- You have experience in plastics manufacturing processes (forming, joining, separating, …)
- You understand and can apply the concepts of lean production
- You have an understanding and first-hand experience with production automation
- You can differentiate and evaluate different automation solutions by using your understanding of achievable process stability, process speeds and tolerances
- You have experience in using the PPAP/APQP processes
- You have experience in Manufacturing Readiness Level or Technology Readiness Level development
- You have knowledge of Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T) and inspection capabilities and requirements relevant to Electronics.
- You will have experience in influencing design through Design for Manufacturing (DFM), Design for Assembly (DFA), Design for Cost (DFC)and RCCA activities.
